I think most people didn't even know it existed.

Yeah. I think the Commander could be classed as a full size. Barely.

No, but I do ride a V-Strom.

Just making the point that Yuppy Puppies are not everyone's cup of tea.

Years ago I was driving out of Boston in the rain when I came up upon a broken-down Honda Civic. It was slammed, giant fart can exhaust, and the driver's "lambo door" was stuck in the up position.

This was every kind of cliche' rolled into one Honda! I stopped to take a picture. Then I saw the owner - who was distraught. It was clear he'd done a lot of the work himself and loved his car. I learned something from this.

How about a Subaru Outback 2.5 - with completely stock drive train (ie no low range or locking diffs)?

But it might was well be a plain vanilla station wagon or a minivan. Which was the OP's point.

Dunno, I'm seeing a lift and all terrain tires.
Except for the stickers, I'd drive it on every forestry road I could find.

Ummm, plain station wagons and mini vans don't have rallies in their genes and AWD. That subbie in the pic, is quite capable of taking on off-road situations; I'm not talking rock crawling, but I have seen them in pretty crazy places.

Yeah, he also had a shovel and an axe on the roof rack.

Every chopped down a tree with an axe? If he had a chain saw, I'd believe he was going somewhere, but axe - it's for show. Arguably the biggest poser-mobile, ever. He later put a lift and tires on it, but the U.S. OBW's don't have a low range and none of them had locking differentials.

^ Could have pulled off the "look" without the tacked on hood scoop. I've seen plenty of Range Rovers set up the same way that look like they've never left the mall parking lot.

In addition to the non-functional hood scoop, there's the snorkel, not sure if he actually punched the fender or if it's also a glue-on. And the tow hook is attached to ???? The guy was trying to sell it, not sure if he did.

I went to the "Wicked Big Meet" - the big Subaru gathering - in 2009 and there were some "interesting" cars there that undoubtedly would also have offended MiteyF's sensibilities.

Limo.

Rally Justy.

Surfer Saabaru.

And then some legit cars like the SOA rally cars.

Old school Subaru mudder.

And a stock-appearing Forester that had a complete STI mechanical swap.

The rally Justy looks like a blast, and the STi Forester would be a great sleeper.

Do I see a Weber carb and air cleaner sticking out back?
What year?
I think anyone that can rock an old car as a daily driver is cool.

Yup, Weber progressive. She's got her hood back on now though.

I wish I could say she's my daily, but my Strom and DRZ take that title. With the engine she's got in her now, I can't really afford to drive her every day Although she still gets out quite often. She's no garage queen!

I guess the Jeep Commander might also fit the bill.
For a while Dodge made no SUVs and Jeep made no trucks- this was to prevent cross shopping between the two.

Now you have Dodge SUVs but no Jeep trucks (other than AEV Brutes)
