I give those last posts a double 1-Operations Christmas tree? 2- WTH is Michhubs XRL battery doing in a box hanging off the subframe?

I finally did get enough coffee to clear out the cobwebs, cleaned up my chain pumped up my tires to street spec and rode about a 100 miles in the boonies of Goochland/Powhatan. When it started getting late and cold I plugged in my electric vest and it didn't work.
That's going straight to #1 on the high-priority fix list.

Good Morning

Todd, good luck on that adventure today. Sorry I couldn't go. Keep us posted.

Sounds like everyone had a kind-of mellow day yesterday. If it had not been for the new shocks I would have done the same thing. Instead I launched from home around 9:30 am ..... Brrrrrr ...... and 34 degrees, wired like a Christmas tree to stay warm. After about 80 miles I finally arrived at Mickey's where we explored the south side of the James River all the way to Shipman. We managed to run into hwy 56 but only between Wingina and Shipman. Almost 280 miles for the day. I think the highest temperature I saw on the bike was 54. Thanks for the tour Mickey.

On the way to Shipman we passed by the memorial of the rider who went down last month. It was very humbling to see the reminder. Please be careful on that stretch of the road.

In regards to the new shocks .....Im very happy with the Ohlins. The ride was a little stiff but I guess that will be the case until the new springs settle in. The handling and performance differences were very obvious with the biggest improvement in the turns. The bike just seemed to hug the road in the turns despite the uneven pavement.

Have a great day everyone.

Has anyone ridden on the land across from where woolrigde toad exits onto 288? It seems like there are a lot of trails over there.

Seems like there may be trails on both sides of 288 in that area. I'm always in my work van when I see them and never think about it when I ride.

Poked around back there a few times, mostly on the west side of 288/otterdale/old Watkins nursery area, a long time ago. Like 8-10 years ago I'd guess. Didn't find much and never came across any other riders which I took as a bad sign.

You buy that WR-R?

Sorry for the laps in time for Operation Christmas Tree, but there was no service up at the cabin...well we arrived around 12:30 and what a beautiful place...

We found the perfect tree...
Then we wrapped in with rope & loaded it on the bike...

Before we rode off my buddy Dan showed up & had a couple beers for us from back home...you won't find these south of the Mason Dixon Line...
Then we were off...

9 miles of mountain dirt roads to start then 64 east to make up time... After all that fun we made it home safe & so did the tree...it fit perfect in place...

Thanks again Ryan for a great ride and a fun adventure!!!

Your tree has a story...and maybe a one of a kind on ADV. Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

There seems to be a lot of trails over there. They may not have been around 8-10 years ago, but if you look on google maps it looks like jeeps have off-roaded in the open area at the woolridge exit, but if you look at the forest part you can see trails all through it. Looks a lot bigger than the training grounds too.

No, the guy sucks at communicating. I dunno if it's going to work out. At this point I'm going in to riding withdraws. I'm about to come to the training grounds on an RTE day and just watch people pass me by so I can be near some motorcycles.
