Big Bend for MLK weekend
Any interest in heading to Big Bend Ranch State Park for MLK weekend? Might even do the greater Big Bend area. January is the time to ride this area - Weather is great this time of year. Sound off if you're interested...

I would head down there but being retired means I avoid any holidays but probably doesn't matter much at BB. Probably head towards Cottonwood CG in the NP. It is the best time to go

Hey Guys,
I'll be heading to Terlingua and will be renting enduros. Being a road guy from the Northeast, I would appreciate any suggested routes. I only have 3 full days to ride and want to get in as much of the dirt as possible. Thanks for any suggestions! Tom |

Not a lot of dirt roads in the park itself, River Road is the longest, also Old Ore Road, Glenn Springs. Paved but ride Green Gulch to the Basin for lunch with a view. Big Bend Ranch State Park will have much more dirt, see other threads.

Pinto Canyon is a must do. The guy who rents DS bikes there should also be able to help. Spend at least one sunset on the bench outside Starlite Theatre, all the crazed out locals hang out there. Worth your time.

There are some great paved roads there as well. 170 is good. the road around the davis mountain is great. Watch your gas, the towns are far apart out there. Avoid the Big Bend Ranch State Park (BBRSP is a state park that is nearby BB national park) unless you're getting lightweight plated dirt bikes. The roads in BBRSP are more advanced and there is no gas and little help in the park. Take your own water if you do go. With the proper bikes, BBRSP is a great ride, but its better to trailer into the park (bringing spare gas with you) and stay there. Town (Presidio) is an 1 1/4 hours away, each way. Food at the bunk house is great!
