That link is about right. The bike makes more noise but not any more power unless you add a programmer. I cut the cat. out drilled holes in the baffles and made a new end cap for my R but I also have a programmer on it. Its still not as loud as the stock pipe with the spark arrester out but sounds better then stock.

I'd put the spark arrestor back, no benefit to not having it, and potential for a ticket if it isn't there.

Another lowering how-to from High Five: http://www.wrrdualsport.com/tech-guide/suspension

And another thumbs-up for the WRX / WRR combo. I usually pull my trailer with an Impreza of the lesser capability, in (boring) silver.

Hey now, you're the one who is always wanting folks to post pictures, not me!

I just don't wanna' see any pics of you doing the "Kisses" thang' with ol' Burton there...

On a completely different note... I, too, have been interested in a WR250R for quite some time. There are still some great off-road riding areas down here in South Texas, but the ones I have in mind are all a bit too tight and technical for my Super Tenere... At least I don't want to ride it in there on the off chance I might somehow get it somewhere that I can't get it out on my own. The WR250R would be perfect for those spots. All are within a couple of hundred miles from home, so it could get there with minimal gear, and fuel is close enough to each of the spots I have in mind that I might not even need a bigger tank.

Only problem is I don't want to spend the money necessary for a new one, and used ones come up so rarely down here as to be almost non-existent. I have widen the range out to within 400 miles or so from home, but haven't seen "The One" I want just yet.

One of these days, though... One of these days!

Ok, as long as I'm not hurting anything. I'm having a hard time getting the bolts out to put the arrester back in, so it may be a little while before I get it installed.

Time to be a picture whore. Took the bike out for the first time today. Only road for an hour or so. Even though I'm still getting used to the bike and the suspension isn't set up for me yet I'm still amazed at how great this bike is. I almost wreck a few times since it's so high, but for the most part I was feeling pretty good. I rode with my cousins husband who has one of the new Honda's. It was an absolute blast.

First time off-road

Getting a feel for wheelies on this thing. I will probably still loop it and kill myself, but this thing is by for the easiest bike I've ever tried to wheelie.

And the honda...

Well I won't be riding my WR250X for a while...

I changed the oil and filter. I didn't find any shavings or metal in the filter or on the bolt. With fresh oil in, I went for a ride to the gas station. The noise was still there while riding, and then it got louder and went *clunk* and then went away. I just figured it was a rock rattling around, so I was like "woohoo, the noise is gone!"

So as I am heading home (1.6 mile round trip) I notice that it is very difficult to shift gears. I pull into the driveway and notice that the gear shifter has slack both on the splines and the whole rod moves in and out. Not good.

Then I notice oil dripping down slowly. I look on the other side of the motor and see this...

So, what all is it going to take to replace the side cover?

Haha, thanks. More like "what all do I have to remove to get the cover replaced?

I dunno what caused it. That's a whole other issue. Guess I'll find out once I open it up.

Side cover is the least of your problem

That cover comes off real easy. I took mine off when my site glass was pushed in. Heres what it looks like with the cover off. I reused the gasket and havent had any oil leaks. I wounder if somthing came loose inside the motor and got wedge between the gear and the case?
