BTW. if you haven't tried yet, the tubless X-Lights holds on the standard Acront rims pretty well, (with an additional tube), even in very rocky terrain and low air pressure, (the pic shows the "autobahn" part during the trip).

What do you mean with an additional tube? Do you wrap another tube around the other? So far I have not been able to keep a tubeless type tire beaded all the way around the akron rim on my Bultaco.

The innertube, (in German: Schlauch), that you have to use for tube tires.
So I use the tubeless tire with a tube. The inner tube holds the tublesstire very good in place even with low air pressure. You still loose a lot of weight and gain flexibility compared to a standard tube tire (with tube). |

I have tried two different michelin tubeless tires with tubes on the Bultaco and I could not get either to stay up on the bead all the way around the rim once I drop the pressure down. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Did you clean the rim spotlessly? I use a wire brush followed by rubber cleaner (the stuff you to prep a tire carcass for a patch),

I also ride the bikes an hour or so with about 1 bar pressure, this helps the tire to set properly (all kind of tires), I have the same "outfit" mounted to the Bultaco the bike has too Acront / Llanta red label rims (old TR Type) like the SWM mounted. The tubeless tires will not stay on original Yamaha TY twinshock rims if you have mounted them to your bike, the bead of the rim is different in shape, (there are no hump's inside the rim). |

Have you guys tried the tubliss system... several around here say they are very good. Use on a standard rim but makes it tubeless so you can run at lower pressures and use the modern tyres.

Both system sounds very nice, but at least where I live sadly not allowed for classic competitions. Our guidelines for classic specify that only tires with tubes are approved.

New Old Ride
I just got this one. I want to set it up for competition. First things I think I need are lower foot pegs ( I see Sammy Miller and B and J Racing have them). Are there any others and can anyone comment on any of them?
Also shocks, I have NJB experts on my Bultaco and want something better than those. I'd like to hear some recommendations. Any recommendation as to what length shocks would also be appreciated.

I can`t quite tell, it looks like the pegs are too forward. Yamaha and the dealers tried to make the ty more user friendly by changing the footpeg location.

I agree on the footpegs, a set of MS pegs and some rockshocks would do wonders!
