An interesting bridge across what I think may have been the Horsepasture River?

That was a cool spot with a campsite on one side but the bike had been hard to start the last two shutdowns so these pics kinda suck as I just shot them from the saddle in an effort to keep the bike running.

Looking back from the other side....

In hind sight I wish that I would have taken a little break there as it was much more scenic than these pics...but it was getting on into afternoon and I still wasn't sure if I'd have to double back from another dead end.

Gorges SP in NC

The road is 'improved' from here on out but....it does get steep in places, signs warn in excess of 25% with momentum killing humps every so often.

Still fun....and I needed a break from all the bumps.

The old DR was beginning to shake itself apart, I didn't realize the extent of it until back at the truck but lets just say the decision to loop back on pavement may have been a good one.

Big and fancy new visitor's center.

Cheater.

90ish miles on the bike....HP is on the East side of the lake and BC is in that NW corner with Gorges SP North of the state line.

Your pictures are a great reminder of how beautiful Lake Jocassee is. The whole surrounding area is very scenic. I rode that area for a few days while on a camping trip to Devil's Fork (really nice state park IMO) in October of 2008. Some of the leaves had started to change and the colors were awesome.
