Yep Van Pelt senior has done the Dakar quite a few times, he even tried on an old model Husaberg. Motto : minimum support and do it yourself. I think jr is on a Honda.

Well,
I am sure Doyle has the fire hose ready and waiting for connection and Troy has the fire and a hole set and ready. Baldy might want to turn off a few features cause I am thinking this year will be a big one based on the interest so far. Counting the days... ![]() Go the aussies (our biggest contingent).. Look out world.

Last year he told me that he would be getting a server, if he hasn't, my server is up for the asking, as last year.
MIscha, pop me an email if you want to set this up.

Obviously a bit biased here as I Am in Oz...but there are a couple of new boys in Dakar this year from Oz that look like they could make a mark. Fishy and Grabbo as they are known here; Matt Fish & Ben Grabham are two quite different types and going about there job in quite different ways. I would have to say that Ben has consistently shown greater speed on Australian soil than Matt but the latter has shown and been amongst some of the bigger Dakar names of late and impressed. I note that he even gets a mention by Cyril.
Matt is also putting the hard yards in with his team. Ben on the other hand is doing it somewhat alone and coming off a serious back injury. BUT he is one tough little bugger and has a mental that pushes him past a lot of adversity. I wish them both the best of luck, cause if they get a bit do not be surprised to see them often in the video coverage. I agree (reluctantly) that the 450 rule has worked and if there are other countries that just have a couple of surprises like I think Oz will, it will be one of the classic Dakars. Good luck to them all...there will be some stories! I also forgot to mention Rod Faggoter who is with the Yamaha team. If he keeps everything together, look out! Hey All
Unsure if this is the place to ask this, but here we go : I am about 1m 77cm and reluctant to buy an enduro/cross bike because I think I will nog be able to get onto it.. BUT check this guy : Olivier Pain http://www.dakar.com/dakar/2013/us/rider/009.html He is only 1m71 ! How does he get on that bike ? Even more if you see this picture : http://www.motosblog.fr/galleria/oli...david-fretigne Sorry if I just asked the dumbest question ever, just beginning to discover Dakar / off road racing etc - Forgive me my ignorance but I need to ask. br Omen |
