John Player Scrambler - a winter project...sort of
Just showing the playing with ideas....essentially info for anyone toying with a 900ss style fairing..
No I did not want to buy a Bonneville or Thruxton....yes I love what the Scrambler is, should be, can be. Just for 'shits and giggles' really. I put it on hold for a more OEM Scrambler for the southern summer. ![]() Amalgam of Norman Hyde TX fairing mount and Hyde Harrier Jubilee mounts. ![]() Not quite there yet, 19" front doesn't help the look but can drop forks up to 20mm more. ![]() It is a very good quality fairing by the way (for a Hyde Harrier specifically speaking) and comes with twin Cibie headlights as a kit from Norman Hyde. ![]() View from cockpit looks purposeful and symmetrical...I love it! ![]() Aaah that's better...stripped for southern summer...as needed more thought on bars, moving or attaching indicators, moving ignition etc maybe next year :) ![]() Showing > single seat with Thruxton cowl instead of rack + Thruxton cup bellypan + street bars flipped upside down + Scrambler number board acting as the fly screen. gk ryder screwed with this post 12-25-2012 at 10:06 PM |

Ignition sensor
I thought I would report back in as to what my problem ended up being.
For those that are interested and those who took stabs at my dead bike diagnosis, it ended up being a bad ignition sensor. It was a bit of a time for final failure find as I was busy chasing fueling and then headed over to spark. http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-tech...nd-boring.html This was the link that headed me in the right direction and Page one was all that was needed to find the bad pick-up. If any of you experiance a bike dieing and think it is fuel related, I suggest you look at the crank position sensor. My fix was less than a three hour job after parts were in place. Be sure to order a new Right Side engine cover allong with the sensor. The sensor part # is T1290131. This was an easy diagnosis from person that makes a living swinging a hammer. To tell the truth, it is the first time I have ever used the ohm's of resistance portion of my mutlimeter and it was fun to perform the duties myself. I bought this bike to harken back to a tyme when a bike was something you could keep on the road through your own accord. It seemed to be the last multi cylindered air cooled, carbed machine in existance and though I am a little concerned that it failed in the way it did, I did not need error codes read from a laptop to fix it. I hope that this helps any one that runs into dead bike syndrome. Do take a look at the link, it is good knowledge to add to your bike brain. |

I had a Karoo and was happy with it, but my favourite combo is Metzler Sahara 3 on rear with Tourance on front. After owning a BMW xchallenge , I thought I would try that rear for little mor drive in dirt but keeping the Tourance for a non sliding front on sealed. |

I've used the Mitas e07 front and rear found they were good on the bitumen and alright on loose dry dirt roads, thy didn;t like mud or sand.Te Mitas e09 dakar rear is good in all areas and wears well average of 5-7000 kms, currently running Dunlop 606 rear and 21inch front Karoo seems to be a good comprimise between dirt and road
