Good to see your post Roger. We have had numerous HPS outfits here in the shop.. The one that really tripped my trigger was a ZX14/ Hannigan which I really hated to see leave. This was Dave's original outfit which I know you and Bill were quite familar with. Awsome machines. I really don't understand totally why they have not caught on more here in the states. Expense? Not totally sure if that is the reason. Take a new Goldwing and add a trike conversion to it and there is no small amount of dollars laid down. Yep the HPS type sidecars are a small market so far here in the states. I think some day America will get more into the idea that a sidecar outfit is to be a sidecar outfit more than just a bike with a sidecar hung on the side of it. .

Back in 1985 when I was a member of a French Sidecar Club (ASF) the average age was 35 and I believe it was 55 in NA. At 43 I was one of the oldest members. I don't know how to get younger people interested in sidecars when their friends are riding busa, R1 and ZX14 with the exception of the ZX14 nobody in NA is making a HPS. Sidecar John had this to say in the Sidecars On Line after returning from the European Sidecar Rally: "Probably, the most crucial issue, certainly when compared to other European countries, is the dated nature of sidecar design in the UK. The so called classic look is all very well, but the newest design amongst the longer term manufacturers is nigh on 40 years old, others date back to the 1950s. Fine if you want to hitch a 1950s sidecar to a 1950s style motorcycle, but hardly attractive for newer machinery, and certainly not comparable to the sidecars available in mainland Europe."
