It doesn't have enough ground clearance, all moving parts need to be welded to hard points, it will self destruct on contact with water, etc, etc, etc.

Some 1190R ride video from Joe Pichler
Recently posted on Joe Pichler's site, here.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/DWGIDmBtZ84?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> As followers of this thread will know, Joe has been supplied an 1190 R that he is riding through Africa. Nice to see it in action. Seems to go well in the sand.

Obviously, few manufacturers will not simply "donate" a first-release model to the aforementioned "mere mortals". Nonetheless, Yes, it is nice to see the bike used in a real-world environment. The LAST thing this mere mortal needs is a bigger, heavier and more expensive machine to ride offroad.

JL was a podium finisher at Dakar. Ned is a mere mortal who is an outstanding, smart, and very determined rider. He chased his dream to race Dakar and was a successful finisher, and top American last year which was very cool. A huge accomplishment, and impressive considering his mortality Basically JL's immortality was established many years ago when he wheelied his 950 over the log and the picture was posted on the internet.

You're calling neduro a "mere mortal"?!
Blasphemy! OK, OK, I get your point. But I would feel like I was ten feet tall and bulletproof on my 950 if I had HALF of Ned's skillz... I continually review both his Dual Sport Riding Techniques DVDs, and I'm still hypnotized when he climbs those rocks on the SE.

..and he has more skills than me too, plus my situation is compounded by position to the wrong end of the mortality scale (old!).
I think the new Adventure is going to be awesome. It obviously still has the off road capability, and then you throw in 50 more HP. What a piece of crap. I just won't be able to afford a new one.

Well well, maybe we should ask what his salary is up there in Norway! Even a bus driver has a higher salary in Norway than I have as a service engineer in Sweden! Absolute numbers don't tell the truth!
