Anyone put one of these units inside a headlight shell? Would enclosing it shorten its life? What about with the extra heat of a headlight bulb or projector light all in the same small space?

Any problem with just unscrewing the back off one of my 44's and replacing the mounting bracket with a thin aluminum plate (with heat sink compound) which will be both an extra large heat sink outside the headlight shell, as well as a custom-shaped mounting bracket bent roughly to the shape of the headlight shell (very little room behind the headlight) ?

I'd like to mount 2 LEDs on the engine guards on my Tiger ( so they would be somewhat protected in case of a fall). As you can see from the pic below they would be about 26-27" off the deck (bike is on the sidestand in the pic) if mounted on the horizontal flat piece. I would like to have the lights on whenever the bike is running for daytime conspicuity, and at night, so I have better viewing down the road when I have my low beams on ( the low beam on the Tiger is pretty weak, so this is really important). What lights would you recommend?
Thanks, Brian

One of our LED controllers with the high beam bypass will give you the DRL and full power options you are looking for. Set it and forget it, the lights come on with the bike in DRL mode, full power at a flick of your high beam switch. Having put a few thousands mile on the same vintage tiger, most of the stock headlights are way out of adjustment. The adjustment procedure is a bit intimidating but made a huge improvement in my stock headlight. Check out the folks at tiger triple for more info. A few years ago. Thanks for the tip on the Tiger headlight adjustment, I will check that.
I think the Model 30s would work well for me. I believe I had those on my FJR and they worked great. When I did the FJR install, 2 years ago, I believe I used your Waterproof Switch - no others available at that time - and I was able to cycle the lights through 3 different settings plus off. I just left them at the middle setting and they worked well. Can I still use that switch in that way? I guess I don't quite understand how I would use the DRL rotary switch... DRL, CCW and PWM are greek to me, but if it means I can run the leds on a dimmer when on low beam, and I will get full led power when on high beam, that seems like a good option. Thanks again.
