990 mud guard
I have a new 2011 Adv 990R (<200 mi.) and was looking to do the mudguard mod. When I went to take out the bolts, I noticed the plastic around the washers was split - the bottom bolts more than the top. The splits in the bottom are ~ 1" either side of the washer. Anybody else come across this?

KTM didn't offer to warranty it? And was there a difference in the replacement or the way it's mounted?

same on a 2010
I assume you're talking about the rear, black plastic mudguard.
Mine was split just like yours from the first time i checked it. I couldn't be bothered to get it changed. Still hasn't fallen apart or ripped off but i am waiting for it! Rob

Mine ('07 990) was split at the lower bolts for years with no problems.
Then I found out how surprisingly cheap the mudguard is...like under $20 IIRC.....

I 'll have a look but it feels like there should be standoff spacers behind the guard.
"Then I found out how surprisingly cheap the mudguard is...like under $20 IIRC" But if KTM warranties it, I could take that $20 and buy...oh wait, I have a KTM, I can't buy shit for $20

Mine was split, too, for a long time. Then, over time, the proximity of the guard to the rear exhaust header caused it to start melting.
I just bought a new one since they are pretty cheap.

Can only buy 3.9 gallons of gas for that here (Ontario, Canada). You guys got it good. At least I'm not in Europe (yet).

I had mine split in 2 parts.
However mine was on a 950A and lasted 7 years/110k kms.
Cheers.
