Progress!
![]() I got tired of trying to save this piston as I'm sure the cylinder will need machining, so forget the wood block. ![]() The right side was a lot more cooperative though. ![]() Looks like the crank is going to need some cleaning up too. What did I get myself into?

Guess this protects the frame from the chain.
![]() ![]() Rear brakes are pretty worn, guess someone really did ride this bike. ![]() This side cover did not want to come off, I'm certain all the bolts were removed, maybe one under the points? ![]() Nope, just stuck on the dowel pins and power of the magnet from the stator. It's out! ![]() ![]() ![]() I think I've been here before... ![]() Next, strip the frame down and then the engine. Club member recommended a small engine shop I'll bring the crank and cylinders to.

vtwin, maybe you should start a dedicated build thread for this bike up in the 2 stroke forum. You may get more interaction there. Just a thought.

Yea, I thought of that, but thought I'm already using too much bandwidth.

Thanks RR, will be stripping the rest of the frame this weekend and look for a painter. Maybe powder coat instead?

Sounds like a good plan. Looks like you've got your hands full with the project you are working on anyway.
Finally got my brakes fixed. Another forum member, bwringer, figured out what was wrong and got them set up correctly. A lot more fun to ride when you know you can stop. Have the tank off right now trying to figure out how to take some dents out. Plan to strip and paint the body work early in the spring (waiting for it to get warm enough) and then ride the thing. Need to figure out some saddlebags or better tailbag so I can commute to work more comfortably. Not a fan of backpacks. Hang in with the Stinger--it will keep me entertained while it is too cold to work on mine. :) |

Thanks will do. Update, inside of the right side looks good, very clean. Guess they took care of the fluid and clutch does not appear to have been burnt.
![]() Started to disassemble the front end. ![]() Brakes are better on the front than the rear. ![]() Rears. ![]() Fronts ![]() Drum could use some cleaning up. ![]() That's all for today.
