I agree, tracks have changed dramatically as bikes have changed and I realize the differences as I have been blessed to ride and race thru both generations.

The new bikes are phenominal in many ways, but there is an arguement to be made that older bikes like the Rick actually "handle" better than modern bikes in pure cornering. they were much lower CoG and built purely for cornering and handling.
Modern MX bikes have fantastic suspension, braking, power and even reliabilty, but handling could be debateable.

Love that pic of the guys with the ear to ear grin....Jag I am sure yours will give you the same smile.

Better handling or not, I still want to own a Ricker before I die. That and a 380 Greeves

When I was a kid growing up in the UK these were the type of bikes you saw on the TV on a Saturday early afternoon. They showed Scrambles in that time slot as live TV Soccer wasn't invented yet so they filled the time until the soccer results started coming in.

Although watching the first bike being a Rickman loop over the jump and pop off the tail piece rather hurts...

Also some neat grass track bikes as well as other classics...

I used to spend a lot of time over there & the forum has some really good guys & resources. there are a couple guys that moderate the BSA board that have stuff... we traded a lot of things back and forth. ping Gordon Gray and Steve Ericson. there is also a Triumph board, etc.

as I recall the wet frame singles all have the same rear wheel.... B50, B25, and even the Triumph TR25W... that would be years from '71 and newer

I raced a Matchess Metisse for a full season of Dist. 37 Desert events in 1970 while a member of the Vikings MC. Kick ass machine, heavy but what an engine. With all the low end torque, the bike would haul the mail when hitting the sand. Sure regret seliing that one after I moved to the PN Wet in '71.

These bikes are in the Mid-America auction , which is one of three seperate autions going on this weekend.
A few days after the auction they'll have the results up . You can also check the past auctions.
If I had money I'd be dangerous at these auctions, I want so many of the bikes !
But in the real world , I have more bikes than I have room or time for. And a slim wallet.
