I don't have a truck to haul a non plated dirt bike. I am completely new to dirt biking. I've also looked at the Husky TE250 but it seems like too much bike for a beginner.

Is the WR250R the right fit? Can I set it up for woods riding? Am I crazy to have a DRZ and WR in the garage???!?

Edit: The WR isn't that much lighter than the DRZ but people say it feels way lighter? It carries it weight lower? Can anyone comment who's owned both?
Thanks for the replies on this. The 'am I crazy bit' was more getting at questioning if I'm basically buying two of the same bike. But I think the WRR with some beefier tires and basic performance mods will be a good start into dirt biking for me, especially with my needs to be able to ride it on the road. I'll definitely look to test ride first... for now I'll keep watching youtube videos of guys ripping it up and dream a bit . I'll be keeping an eye out for local used ones or in Washington state or Oregon to import.

If the WRR has trouble with the camping gear and rider, then buy some new, lighter camping gear. My current kit is about 1/3 the size and 1/2 the weight of what I have done my trips with in the past.

I got sick of crawling in and out of my ultralight, so I went condo MONDO!

It fits in the left Wolfy bag and I strap the poles crosswise along with my Kermit chair.

I could roll my WRR in there with me...

How much did you get for parts? I know in some areas it is more than for a complete bike!

Cool, now you will work out all the cool farkles to have before I jump in. I've been wanting this bike since they released it. Got some friends that have it and they love it too. ;)

Nice! I'm curious if you know the service intervals? Also whether there is a rack that can be installed for some Wolfman bags?

Sorry this is all off topic, but I'm comparing this bike against the WR.

IMO they are too close to justify owning both, assuming both are set-up as dual-sports. I'd own one, and have a 2nd set of wheels if necessary to switch from road work to trail work.

The TE on the other hand, could be your barely street-legal trail bike, and keep the DR-Z for a road-going dual-sport. Rather than the TE250, I'd get the TE310.

Chris - I asked a few pages back, but maybe it got buried.

Since you already own a KTM 300 2-stroke with a license plate (unless I'm mistaken??), what made you decide on a 350-EXC as well?

Curious because I am in lust with the KTM 2-stroke enduros, though they aren't not plate-able here. After my lottery win, I want a 200 XC-W (and a Road King, a Moto Guzzi California 1400, a Street Triple R, an R1200GS, a W800, and a...)
