You're gonna miss the 800 triple. I bought a used WR several weeks ago. It's awesome, smooth for a thumper and fun but I still choose the Tiger 800 (roadie) for anything that doesn't involve dirt. I am lucky I am in a position to have both. The triple 800 is heavenly.

I would not call the capability a deal killer, the bike does so many other things well; if you want a throttle-wheelie monster it's the wrong bike. |

) would be a better fit methinks. My bike is my only vehicle too, much as I would love to have a stable I can't afford one.

That's not at all what I'm looking for, rather I want a tractor. Something that will hill climb (and descend) with solid control, while being able to surmount the occasional step.

I'm starting to farkle my WR250R for light off road duty. I'm debating how to approach hand guards. I've got the stock bars, and I want a bit more height. I can go with just risers and Cycra or something similar, or I can spring for a Highway Dirtbikes setup with new bars, mirrors etc. Seems like HDB is the way to go, and I figured I'd just get a Pro Taper Contour from them, let them do the tapping etc. I'm new to bar swapping though, and have some questions...
1) Is it better to get the lift from risers or from a higher bar? I'm thinking an extra inch would be perfect. 2) Do the HDB anti vibe inserts help on the WRR? I'm at 1250 miles, and things seem to getting smoother, but if $50 makes it better, I'll go for it. 3) I don't see a whole lot of $ difference in fat bars, but it's not clear that bigger is necessarily better. Any reason to stay at 7/8? Either better for vibes? 4) Universal adapter to mount a fat bar, or put on new fat lower mounts? Thanks!

Hand guards depend on if you want them to clamp to the bar or to the triple clamp. I prefer triple clamp, but that affects if you can or can't use risers sometimes.

+1 for both the HDB hand guards, top clamp, and risers...and also the Tusk fat bars
HDB kit isn't cheap, but totally worth the price. As for the Tusk bars, they're a super bargain for $39. I have exactly that on my DR650. I wanted some extra height so I went with the high mounts from HDB (2.5" high) and ordered Tusk CR High Bend bars. This is a great reference: http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/Ha...r-Measurements ![]() ![]() Quote:
