Cleaning Engine Sludge

1. The engine is off the bike. The crankcase is split with the transmission / drive shaft / shift drum / everything taken out of it.

2. A couple of days ago, I soaked the crankcase halves in some Murhphy's Oil Soap.

3. Now, there is slick sludge in various places on the CC halves. Inside and out. In corners and on surfaces. I'm thinking it's something like molybdenum mixed with the oil and soap. It's white/greyish.

4. It's very light in viscosity. But, there's a lot of it and it's in nook and crannies where I can' reach with a toothbrush or towel. Using a pick would take a long time.

What's the best and fastest way to dissolve this slime from the crankcases? Something that'll clean out the oil passages because I have a feeling there's a lot of the stuff in there. Are mineral spirits going to strip the engine paint?
