I'm using a Razr HD Maxx as of about a month ago. I had a Motorola Milestone, but went down to a dumb phone for awhile. I've been using the milestone for the last year as a pocket tablet to play games and use free WiFi when I'm away from home. I just figured out the other day that I could set the Milestone up to make and receive calls any time I have internet access by using Grooveip and Google Voice. I wish I had thought of this sooner. Anyway I think I'm going to set the old Android phone up for a friend who lacks phone service

I just got the Jellybean upgrade the other day which adds a few cool features, but nothing I couldn't have lived without. Google now is handy. It gives me little tabs that I have to remember to pull up. The tabs depend on what I'm doing. When I'm away from home, it tells me how long it will take to get home. The voice search is very good, but I never know if I'm going to get a voice response or just a regular Google page showing top hits.

The Razr HD Maxx has a shitload of battery, but the battery is internal and not user changeable. It is a huge step up from the Milestone in every other way.

I've read from reviewers that the picture quality of the HD Maxx is not as good as Samsung phones. I no Ansel Adams and for what I take pictures of, this is good enough. There is supposed to be some kind of update in Jellybean which makes the camera better.

A friend of mine has an S3 and has no signal at my house, while mine is okay. I figure it is because Motorola got their start in radios and still knows how to make them. Most mobile users have to stand in certain places in house to have a signal.

I had to go from a Galaxy Nexus to my Razr Maxx for that reason. Did not work at my house. Loved that device, but the radio was junk. I will get a Nexus 4 if this Jellybean update does not happen fast.

If there's one thing Motorola does well, it's radios.

My feelings as well.
The hardware and firmware around them can leave a bit to be desired sometimes though.

I still miss my Startac, that phone got signal at my house where nothing else I've had since has.

That is because it had an external antenna.

So did my Treo, and that was hit-or-miss here.

I got my new phone yesterday.
Quick review, I had a Galaxy s2 on sprint. Liked the phone, hated sprint. The family already had a Verizon plan, which I had counted on taking to sprint when I got my phone, then changed my mind when I saw how awful sprint was. They all used the new every two to upgrade to iphones. I thought I would join them, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Instead, I got a note 2. First thing I did was unlock bootloader and put in a custom rom. This thing is huge, and I love it! Perfect for the way I use a phone, which is 98% as a tablet, 1% texting and 1% as a phone. I'm happy for now.

Note 2 will be my next phone (probably the note 3 in a few months though) My usage is the same as yours and the bigger screen is kickass. I have the S3 at the moment and I don't know how people spend all day squinting at the iFruit's postage stamp display. Once you go big you can't go back...

Damn, do you need a purse to carry that thing around?

In 4 weeks we'll be eligible to upgrade on Verizon and I'm still deciding between the Samsung S3 and a Droid Maxx HD. Can't wait to finally shut off my trusty old Blackberry for the last time...

My buddy has the Maxx HD.

Compared to my S3 his camera is horrible.....pictures look subpar.

His battery life, however, is absolutely amazing.

It's from RIM, couldn't decide whether to put this in a phone thread or a camera thread... and hell it is probably 205.

Cool technology.

My Galaxy S2 went for a swim , came back to life then fried itself in my pocket. So it was time to upgrade. That S2 was as big as I am willing to go for a phone so all those giant phones were out. I need to plug it into my work PC and access the microSD so the iphone was out even though I like the size.

Pretty much all that was left outside the realm of supersized is the Razr M. So far I couldn't be happier. The thing is crazy fast, I don't have to shut everything off to get all day battery life and it connects everywhere. I have no complaints about the camera. But best of all is how cleanly they did Android compared to Samsung.

Resisting the Verizon bloatware and not screwing around with the os probably does a lot for battery life. Not to mention making making me happy. The Verizon Wireless guy said he is selling more of them than the iphone5 or Galaxy3. I can see why. It is small but with a nice screen and crazy powerful.
