Resigned. Put on some loud rock music. Poured some great single malt.
Waiting for thing to sort themselves by tomorrow. Great ride nevertheless!

ASO hasn't ruled on this issue. The question is if a team is going to lodge a protest or not. And if they think it may help their rider, they will.

Faria FB
DAKAR 2013-8 STAGE - 01/12/2013 SALTA - TUCUMÁN Ruben Faria is already 3 of the General! Today played up to 8 Leg between Salta and Tucuman with a total of 738Km. It was anticipated that the 491Km special timed sections were divided into two ace but caused heavy rains that occurred during the night the organization decided to cancel the first section. With this change the timed special today had only 150Km. Impressive is what can be said about this fabulous 8th Stage Dakar! From dream to nightmare was only a matter of hours. Yesterday everything was shuffled to the KTM / Red Bull with the problem of Cyril Despres. Today the French attacked and regained some of the lost time yesterday once more leaving the way open for Ruben Faria rolled unhurried and so it happened. Again Ruben Faria made a perfect step without risking anything and assuring right now in 3rd place overall just 11 minutes from the first. This classification is still provisional because of the engine swap, Cyril Despres may be penalized and that Ruben Faria will now be 2nd in Dakar, what happens will be the first time a pilot Portuguese will be in this position only 11 minutes from leading to entry for the day of rest. Ruben Faria: "Today I am a little more relaxed because yesterday was the limits of stress! Our goal was to solve the problem of Cyril and as we are a great team we all worked with that goal and we did it! The recovery of Cyril today made the confidence levels back to normal and was proof that he will have to rely on until the end of this Dakar, even with the penalty that will suffer by changing the motor. As for me I will continue to do my work but obviously we can not help but share with you all that the dream has never been so close ... I know they have been days of anxiety and expectation for all who follow me so nothing better than sharing with you this result. A big hug and Thank You! " Ranked 8th Stage 1st Barreda Husqvarna 02:07:26 2nd Campbell Honda 02:14:30 3rd Jakes KTM 02:15:23 (...) 33 Ruben Faria KTM 02:29:50 General classification after Stage 8 1st Casteu Yamaha 19:56:33 2nd Despres KTM 20:05:59 3rd Ruben Faria KTM 20:07:09 |

Bandanagate
CDP quickly puts on the bandana to hide his ears. If you watch the videos , he seems very conscious of his appearance. Think about it .... When have you seen a pic of him without a touque or bandana. ???? BANDANAGATE!!!!!

It was good to see Cyril in his socks changing his own engine but would have been more impressed if he used the bandana as a rag !! Couldn't believe post engine change after a marathon stage the bandana was still gleaming white.

I suspect that all riders not in the finish when the flooding happened might be awarded the last finisher's time and be allowed to continue.
