on Jaws

He can be a decent analyst outside of the play by play booth. In it, maybe due to encouragement from his producers (?) he didn't know when to shut up.

When it was Jaworski's turn, he issued a stern proclamation. "Call me crazy, but I'm really excited for Tyler Palko tonight," he said, and a roomful of skeptical sports producers erupted in laughter. Jaworski had given himself the thankless task of building up the Chiefs, praising them as much as he could without putting his own credibility at risk. Perhaps viewers would buy into the idea, however far-fetched, that Palko would emerge as the night's underdog hero. Later that day, as Jaworski was making a cup of coffee in the ESPN bus, he tried the line again. "Call me crazy, but I'm excited about Tyler Palko," he said. He exhaled. "I've got to sell this," he said to himself.

He became a carnival barker, not a football analyst. That may have been his own doing or based on the suggestions of ESPN producers. Regardless, the mentality to promote the game rather than describe it, which seems to be shared by Tirico and Gruden, is a big reason why "Monday Night Football" has become borderline unwatchable in recent years. It's not a football game anymore; it's a promotional vehicle. (That's only going to get worse when Gruden is given a bigger stage.)

This will be the first time in 15 years that ESPN has used a two-person booth to call NFL games since Mike Patrick and Joe Theismann called "Sunday Night Football" from 1988 to 1997.

I hope they aren't referring to Patrick and Theismann as the gold standard.

Theismann.

The joe buck/Troy aikman love fest is kinda funny, but as long as theisman isn't allowed near a booth I'll be okay.

Thanks for the laughs, guys.

My vote is for Dan Stammerdorf. He's like listening to Elmer Fudd.

Shouldn't Leslie Visser be announcing equestrian instead of interviewing football players?

Yeah a bunch of bad peeps in ole sports land.

My list of the good, da bad & zee ugly

Speeds F1 crew was decent - I liked Hobbs & Steve M., Varsha ehh not so much

John Madden the last 15 yrs in the booth was annoying as fcuk.

Musberger is a tool

Aikman too many hits to his melon

Marble mouths - Shannon Sharpe & Scott Russell

I'm sure I'm missing a whole bunch to hate

But I like Chris Berman, the late Jim McKay was good, Al Michaels used to be good - now he sucks.
