Great thread !

i've gotten through 92 pages so far, skipped a few to the last page to see weather or not you are gonna be trucking on the ice this 2013 season?

I will be on the ice for the first time this year, i've been looking for a job for the past 4yrs, and finally nailed one down.
I will be as you call them a " tanker yanker " LoL !

Anyways, i much appreciate the effort, you have put into this thread, as a noob i have learned a lot about what it really like out there, i love your pictures and stories.

If your out there this year, i will hopefully get to meet you somewhere, thought it is probably a long shot.

Thanks again.........onto finish page 92 and continue.........

I leave for Winnipeg on the 27th ( New Boss ) then bob tail to Edmonton, ( Dangerous goods ), should be in YK for about the 1st - 2nd of Feb.

Hey man that's awesome, you'll have a great time! I'm not going to be there this year, was looking for my own truck to take but left it a little late, however I now have a full year in which to get organized and even I can't procrastinate that much! In 2014 the coffee will be on me at Lockhart!

Enjoy your season...and maybe come back and tell us a few stories when you're done!

Cheers.

Fine, you have a year to get off your behind a go trucking on the Himalayas and Bolivia's death road, you ruined the TV show for me with your fancy realistic writing. Now go trucking and write a report, the TV is boring.

I'll be right on it!

I'm keeping an eye on the used truck market, saw an interesting one for sale in Ontario yesterday. A 1982 Needle-Nose Peterbilt. Rebuilt from the ground up, apparently has won a shit load of shows. 800hp! And mine for only $100,000...

Sounds like you need to hang out with Natedog. He has a nose for deals.

Wow, that's a deal!

I was just on the phone with a friend from the prairies. We met on the ice roads and he might be willing to sell me his truck for next year. The big advantage there is knowing the previous owner - I know the truck, how he drives, how he looks after it, what he paid for it etc.

He's going to the dark side this year and hauling fuel for the first time so it'll be interesting to hear his comparisons between the two jobs. He is also trying very hard to get me to take one of the driving offers I received this year and I am very tempted. The bastard! Maybe I just need to go in to work on Monday morning and hand in my notice...

Ahhhh! that's to bad that you wont be there, it would have been awesome to speak with you in person, maybe next time,

I will be trying to keep the family at home, up to date through facebook.

I will try to share some "first timer" stories with all of you here also.

Leaving in 2 weeks.............mixed emotions............. never been away from home for such a long stretch.

Maybe in a way this forum will be comforting.

Can't wait to go though.

I think that you should definitely share some stories here - I have a feeling that plenty of people would read them...

Understandable to be apprehensive about leaving but I think you'll have an overall positive experience. Many guys get a fair bit of grief from their wives for the first few weeks, but then it'll be payday and a cheque will deposited in your account and suddenly you wife will be more supportive...

I'll send you a PM with some things that I know I'd appreciate knowing ahead of time if it were my first season, and if you have any specific questions just fire away.

Think of it as a vacation...albeit a slightly less than exotic one...!!

You mean like be sure to pack electric socks and shave your head 'cause you won't be bathing regularly?

I don't remember if it was you or one of the show guys who talked about once having no heat in the cab and the coffee in his thermos froze. That's just wrong.
