I have a shot a getting an 04 with 17k miles. They're asking 4500, what should I offer? How is the reliability on these bikes? Anything I should look out for? It looks brand new from when I went to look at it today, but the mileage concerns me. I've never owned a bike with more than 10k miles.

Should I be worried? Or should I jump on this? The KBB is 3800, I think I'll offer 3700 cash.

Offer him $3500. Unless it's extremely clean, thats about all they go for.

As for reliability, they're pretty bulletproof. I've got 22k on mine, and ride it like it's built to be ridden. It doesn't miss a beat.

And 17k miles is NOT a lot of miles. Modern bikes are built to go just as long as modern cars. The problems lie in the fact that with sport bikes, most are wadded up before they ever have a chance to be ridden far. I've seen guys go over 200k and never crack the engine open. I've got close myself.

As long as it's clean, and well maintained, and you continue that trend, it'll go for several thousand more miles. Which is good, since you won't want to ever get rid of it. EVER. Trust me

Yea that's what I'm planning. The problem I have is that it's at a dealer, so he has some overhead to cover. I'll walk in with 3500 cash tomorrow morning. It has aftermarket grips and an aftermarket windshield too, along with a muzzy exhaust. Those things to me, lower the value, but we'll see.

The Windshield is almost a MUST. I love my Zero Gravity screen.

The dealer may be more willing to work with you than a private owner, actually. Go with cash, be prepared to walk out if you have to. He may have to stew on it a bit.

Grips aren't really worth anything. Neither is the Muzzy exhaust.

Well I got worked over pretty hard but i'm still happy. Got the bike for $4425 out the door. Worked out to 4109 before fees/tax. Right at NADA value.

It has a tail tidy already, with a stupid green light instead of red. Anyone know a good kit I can get so it's back to a legal red bulb?

Also, it has no front turn signals, anyone know a good set that I can buy and install myself?

It's also got a set of Muzzy slip ons and a power commander already installed. Is it worth it to tinker with that, or just leave it as is?

I trawled in here looking for ideas on bolting a set of more "off-road" oriented tyres onto my 2005 Z750, and ended up sitting up way too long reading threads...

So, I've got a black 2005 Z750. Mainly used for punting around the hills, but every now and then I feel the need for speed, without wanting to risk the license:





Does well enough for what it is (and scares quite a few of the CBZXYZRRRRRR riders too ).

After spending the evening reading, I think I might get a more off-road biased bike and keep the Zed for bitumen scooting..

Looks like maybe a Corbin seat and rear seat also. Looks like a sweet bike.

As far as mileage goes. I have 37,000 miles. But my bike has a rebuilt motor, new frame, new tank, and one rebuild on the front fork. Strangely it's never been down.

If you look carefully, there are no front turn signals on the bike.


Anyone know a decent set I can get and install myself? The PO cut the stock ones off, but the wire connections are still there.

Any of your basic shorty stalks will mount right up on the front, just being the fairing. There are 2 little brackets. I've got a set of cheap carbon-fiber look ones and they work fine.

Did they tint the actual taillight green or just the plate light? Throw up a pic and I'll help you out. I may have swap parts sitting around.

Not a Corbin. Its an aftermarket cover over the stock seat. Corbin has a much different shape.
