Best LED Aux Driving Lights (at a reasonable price)?

Our IQ-170 intelligent lighting controller works with all LED (and incandescent) auxiliary lamps. It cannot be used with HID lamps, though, as there is no way to dim these.

I had pretty bad luck with the advmonster lights, going through about 5 of them on my Dakar and TDM900 till the warranty support ended after about 10 months. Some lasted less than a week, others a few months but in the end they all stopped working.

Since then I switched to Piaa LP530 leds and have had zero issues. They are also backed by a 2 year warranty, if it breaks Piaa will replace it. Besides reliability, the other nice thing about these that the leds are aimed backward into the multidirectional reflector, producing a precisely focused beam that can be aimed so it doesn't dazzle oncoming traffic, unlike most LED lights. $209 complete with a Piaa harness at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/PIAA-5372-530-...sim_sbs_auto_2

What happened to them? I have a set I just mounted, and am now a bit concerned.

I'm not sure what exactly caused them to die because I was never told what they replaced when I sent them in for repair. I had them wired through quality (Hella and Piaa, respectively) harnesses to go on with the high beam on both my TDM900 and my Dakar. Despite being used infrequently (I live in an urban area), they would suddenly just die without warning. The leds are wired in seriesl, so if one stops working they all go out. My friend with an FJR had a similar problem, and managed to fix one light by harvesting an LED off a dead light that I gave him once my warranty suddenly vanished.

Others might have better luck with them, but based on my experience I've decided to stick with well known name brand led lights, which surprisingly turned out to be in the same ballpark price-wise and are backed by solid warranties. In addition to the aforementioned Piaas, Rigid Industry Duallys sell for $190 a pair with a wiring harness, http://www.amazon.com/Rigid-Industri...eywords=dually.

You mean they're wired in sequence.

Parallel means each individual bulb is wired separately to the power source and if one goes out, it doesn't affect the others.


That sucks if they're wired in sequence. A string of Christmas tree lights aren't even wired that way anymore.

I emailed you what was replaced on the lights. An led cluster on one and a driver board on another.

The lights JimVonBaden bought where $108 for a pair, not really in the same price range as the other lights.

The lights you purchased and all of our current designs are of a much improved design than our older 24 watt lights (what twinrider had). The lights are backed up by our 1 year warranty.
