Rally for next year? (FEB-APR '14)

Team AdvRider,

I am about to deploy...again...and would love to go for a long ride after I return next year. I am currently in NC, and willing to ride to most locations on the East Coast. Thinking about heading north/northeast for a week...just go where ever the road takes me.

Anyone know of any rides/rallies planned this far out? If not, do you all know a good website/source I could use to start tracking them?

I appreciate it.

It kills me to put my ST in 'storage mode,' but it does provide me with something to look fwd to upon my return!

I may look a complete knob when riding the Worldcrosser (I may look like a complete knob full stop!) but at least when riding the Worldcrosser I look like a happy complete knob!

I used to hear this a lot about my Honda CBF1000 as well. It's boring, it's slow. Honda took the 170+ HP motor out of the CBR and detuned it to under a 100 in the CBF. It sure was linear and if you're used to 2 strokes or small displacement super sports that require high revving then yes you may "see" it as boring, but that was one of the best "riding" motors I've ever had in a bike. Endless instant torque and for twisty's you simply pick a gear and roll on roll off and enjoy the ride. Sure you could bounce it off the rev limiter and work up and down through the gears but it wasn't any better. I never rode two up, wife rides her own bike, a Street Triple R and she's one of the ones who called the CBF boring. But for two up I can't imagine a better type of motor. As I said, pick a gear and roll on roll off, you can be very smooth. Good luck on your search.

Just got back from the future! in 2086 the Tenere is still Adventure Touring Bike of the year!

if anyone needs an LED indicator for the X50 radar detector... the LEDs listed in the ebay ad work like a champ. Just wire them up in parallel with each other and no resistor required. Then connect them to a 3.5mm mono plug. you can mount then in anything you like... wood, I used aluminum and drilled it out and stuck them into it. Be sure to pain it black first. If it is shiny aluminum it will reflect sunlight and make it harder to see the LEDs.







Also stuck on a auxiliary LED light on front. cheap set for $110. they are incredibly bright but the light pattern is round, so a lot of light is wasted. I will post a video later so you can see how bright they are compared to stock lighting. Another thing to consider is to wire them to the high beam. I put a SPDT switch to control the lights. I can turn them on with the switch, off, or link them to the high beams. I wired a relay to the high beam light. That way I can just kill the high beam and turn them off too. Great for when riding roads with the occasional car. I had to build a mount for it. The mount is just a piece of aluminum bent at 90 degrees. The lights themselves are very nice. they are adjustable and can be aimed up and down. I am thrilled with them.

Thanks for all the great posts. A test ride it is. As i stated, I am more than happy to leave the point and squirt power of the Duc behind. The Tiger 1050 had nowhere near the power of the Duc but we loved the smoothness of the engine and acceleration.

I have already dropped words like "Yamaha reliability" and "the only owners on the net who seem happy have Yamahas" to the other half. I dont think she will be too surprised when we arrive at the Yamaha dealers on our next ride out.
