It's interesting that the leading edge slats are manually controllable. If there's a decent wind blowing that could be landed with almost no roll after touchdown.

I think they're actuated by the AOA.

I wonder if there is a linkage (either a lockout or a full mechanical link) that prevents a 'slats disagree', and if not, if it has an override or sufficient aileron authority to compensate.

The automatic slats are just spring loaded and depend on air pressure to push them closed. I don't think there's anything like a linkage involved. Maybe it's only required on the powered type used on large aircraft.

Interesting task as well to try and build in some aerodynamics that will yield a bit of hysteresis (you want the deploy and retract speeds to be different), unless that comes for free.

You wouldn't want the dang things popping in and out when you were near the deploy or retract transition.

Nice A/C but you are probably looking at $100.000 by the time you get done with all STOL options, not to mention the 600to 700 hrs build…
Could you do this or close with a PA 20 or PA 11for half of the price?
Looking at the accident reports over the years seems that a lot of pilots with highly capable bush aircraft tend to damage them more often…and take more chances.
A Swiss pilot operating in Alaska comes to mind…some of you will know the man in question,
A pilot at Winchester Airpark, Jim V used to land across the East West runway with his modified Supercub when the wind was from the North…not recommended in my book.
