Compare!

I have wanted a Super 10 since they were released here. I finally rode one - the local dealer had a demo bike and I was impressed. Quite by accident, the local Ducati dealer also had a demo Multistrada and I just had to go and ride it too.

If I had not ridden the Multistrada, I would still be wishing for a Super 10.

My advice: Find a Ducati dealer with a Multistrada demo and go for a ride.

The rest will be history!!!

Granted this is an s10 "bashing" thread, but I can't imagine any quality of the multistrada that would make me choose one over a super tenere.

Well, I can think of one!

Ducati's are so gorgeous that they look good in your living room. :)

Having said that, the Multistrada really isn't a better bike to a person who is buying the S10 for its unique strengths. I wouldn't mind having both bikes. But clearly I wouldn't be using them for the same mission. I'm not very careful with my S10. I expose it to nasty elements.

I would probably wax my Ducati when it was raining outside. (In my living room, of course)

If I had a multistrada I'd probably never wash it, much less wax it. Not really a pretty machine person.

Oh, that's easy - 150hp!!
And a gorgeous bike with tons of character. A Tenere? Not so much. Not that I didn't like it. In fact, were it not for the new Tiger XC I'd probably be a Tenere owner today, possible a 990ADV owner.

I didn't think it was really a 'bashing' thread, more that there are other motocycles to choose from than just the only one a S10 owner thinks. And I think it offered up a way to vent about dislikes about it more than completely disliking the bike. For me the sole detractor was it's weight. The rest of the niggles I could deal with. It's a solid machine.

Wife and I seriously considered a 'Strada to replace the Versys. Would make a fun touring machine. But I wanted something less costly to buy, maintain, and insure, and something with a bigger front wheel, at least a 19. I surely liked it more than a GS or GSA, but not for the same 'mission' as mentioned.

Bikes that were on my shortlist:

GS/GSA
Stelvio
990
800XC
VStrom (mostly just a glance)
Multistrada (mostly a pipe dream)
Tiger 1050

With the last two as only road-oriented. Granted they are all different, but have many similarities in purpose.
They all had reasons to scratch them, the Tiger XC the least so, so that's what we got and absolutely love it.

I said that would make me choose a multi. I'm sure other people would take it - great, Ducati needs to sell a few, anyway.

I have no desire for a bike with that much power.

My point being that it isn't universally superior to an s10, it is a different type of bike.

Hell, the only way I'd take a multi over my wee is if I could sell it quickly.

I love my S10 but it pings bad under hard accel with low revs.

Took to the dealer who rode and said "they all do that, try some octane booster"

Well that's just BS.

That's my only grip about the bike so far.

If you are sure you are running 93 and the quality of fuel is good, then the only other solution is a fuel controler. It pings because it's lean and additional fuel is needed.

I hate my ST because it has made me lose interest in going to any future motorcycle shows. Since I got the bike, I come away from these shows completely disappointed with everything I see. Before I would come away from these shows thinking at least one bike would look good in the stable, but not any more. Now if Yamaha came out with an ST that was 100lbs lighter with the same specs and that could stand up to the regular beatings I give it, I would be interested. This POS has wrecked my life....

I understand completely. That's how I feel about my '12 vstrom.

It doesn't even need the "same" specs. Make it 900cc's with equivalent power per liter with 100 lbs. less mass and I'm all in!

I used to like it less. (not much though) But now it is perfect. (for me)
If they came like this, they could charge a lot more. :)

Not bashing here but i ran into a fella on one here and it was so clean i thought it was new. Nope, a year old and 500KM. He said it will never see rain and certainly not a dirt road. I asked him if he knew what the bike was built for. Just another type of poser I guess.

If I still had every dollar I spent on motorbikes I would be a richer man but a poorer person.

I hate my bike! Every time I ride it I end up taking forever to get back home, randomly getting lost and sore in the face from smiling the whole time.... LOL...
