A lot of the camera cars are Porsche Cayenne, blacked out like that Raptor. I always see them driving 4mph and think "what a waste of a whole lot of money."

I wonder if I'll be seeing more Raptors now.





Filming annoys the fuck out of me, ever notice almost every car commercial has a downtown Los Angeles shot? Yeah, they like to screw up our traffic.

I don't think anyone has it worse than you guys out in LA for filming disturbances. I never realized just how bad it was until more and more filming started happening in ABQ and NM in general. The worst one that really got on my nerves was for filming a movie called Sunshine Cleaning and the house they were filming at was right up the block from the apartment my wife and I lived in at the time. The streets all got closed, and huge equipment semis were in the way of everything. There were times we couldn't even get in our own driveway and that streets were blockaded after we left and we couldn't get back in, etc. It was a disaster.

They also like to shoot on PCH at Mugu rock. I've never been affected, but I see it in car commercials all the time.

Doesn't annoy me at all. It's usually easy to get through on a bike and it's a good input to the local economy.

We lived next to a koreatown building that has about one filming a week. Sometimes they block the sidewalk, but they leave it cleaner than they found it, the generators are impossible to hear from more than 3 feet away, no big deal.

most of the stuff is shot on tuesdays at 11 am. you never see most of it.
Also you would be surprised at how many things that are supposed to be Ca are shot in North Carolina etc

An astonishing amount of stuff is shot in LA but you would be surprised at how much stuff is shot elsewhere and passed off as LA.

That movie Battle for Los Angeles, which was supposed to entirely take place in Los Angeles, was filmed in its entirety in North Carolina.

No, I'm well aware of this. The majority of the filming that happens in NM is supposed to be set elsewhere. Common in the film industry.

There a road Northwest of Houston (near Carlos) that I ride a few times a year that has a corner marked at 15mph. In most cases you can safely ride a lot of those corners at double what the signs say, but his particular one just requires that you back way off. There's nothing obviously difficult about it, just a perfectly square 90 degree left hander, but it comes right after a long stretch of fast corner-after-corner riding. It's also dead flat and and it's not uncommon to find gravel on or around it, but it catches a lot of riders out. I've tried line after line to find a quick way around it, and just decided that it's one of those slow corners to tiptoe around and hammer your way out at the exit. Maybe this curve on Mulholland is "one of those" kind of corners.
