There is TDCF and TDCE... you will want to line up the crank mark as well...as you want TDCF---firing...all valves closed.

I just wiggle the rocker arms, if they have some slop then I know I'm at TDCF.

The cam shaft rotates 1 time for every 2 times the crank shaft rotates. So if you line up the cam shaft mark, it will always be TDC firing.

good point. Was thinking about the valve adjustment procedure of the 950's where you have to pull the cams out to get at the buckets. Forgot that the cam stay in place in the 690 motor...makes life a lot easier.

Valve Job
Damn I need a valve JOB. Dont think I can convince the wif of the living room being the right spot. Dont think I can squeeze it into an afternoon while she is at work, so I'm f"d. Dont want to pay the steelers and it would be my first v'job...yeah I'm virgin. And my math aint so gooood. Measuring the little f'ers (assuming I'm out of spec) is going to test my logic skilz. Suppose it is easier the second time for you pros.
So, gonna have to delay the inevitable for a sunny day in the condo parking lot. Seen the links, time for a deep breath of spring air, in the spring, and go for it. FYYFF.

Technology to the rescue
I didn't make this gem, but it's an excel spread sheet that you punch in the numbers to and it spits out closest shim fit KTM part number http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19350741/690...Calculator.xls FWIW - you can get harley Shims for the V-rods in smaller increments than the ones from KTM if you want a more accurate fit. KTM ones go at 0.005 mm and the HD ones are 0.0025 per step

Hey has anybody seen or (hopefully have a link) for an extension harness for the 2010 enduro R instrument? I swear I have seen one for sale somewhere, but I have been looking all night without success

![]() Now we have finished the EVO2 moulds we are back onto some development jobs we want to get into production this spring. One of them is our 2 piece billet clutch cover to suit the KTM 690 Enduro and Rally. Here are a couple of shots of the finished CNC machined model, which we will fit to an engine, before making the final billet aluminium parts.
