If it actually comes to fruition, I'll be in for at least one. Just hope they can get the weight down though.

Could be kinda cool. I hope it isn't built for midgets, like the Blast was.

If HD builds a new bike based on the Blast, it'll probably be closer to something like the Suzuki Savage than an XR.

Alright, HD, you have my attention. I test rode both the Blast and an XB9 Firebolt years ago. Liked them both. The Blast wasn't bad for those of us that like thumpers.

So Honda comes out with a low revving and low HP 700 cc. Seems to make sense from a cost side. Great mpg, zero maintenance. Hope they rubber mount it :)

I like simple thumpers.

Ps: Around my parts, most of the official riders training courses are offered by HD dealers. The blasts they are getting ancient. Even if HD sells ten of these bikes to every dealer that offers rider training.....that's how many bikes in the US? A thousand? Two thousand?

I dunno, it doesn't SAY it will be called an "XR500" (I have one of those, made by Honda 30 years ago) if it even shows up - but make it a 600 with some ballz and make that pipe black - I kinda like it.

One thing about the Blast motor. It was pretty under stressed. I think the trans gears were from the XL bikes, and those were used in the 883 and 1200. Hey, I rode a 2207 Royal Enfield 500 Bullet for a few years. Compared to that bike, the Blast based motorcycle we're talking about is high tech. The new Enfields though are much more modern. They even have fuel injection now.
Don't think the old Blast couldn't handle a freeway. I had my test ride bike up to a good 80 mph on the Buell group ride. It handled it fine. I had to do it. The other riders were on Firebolts and such. If I'd have even tried to hit 80 on my Enfield, it would have imploded. About 50 was as fast as you could go without over stressing that bike. But it was still a fun ride. Great on the back roads I frequented there in the Pacific Northwest.

Hmmm, building a small version of the big bikes in India. . . and it's even orange. Maybe we'll see the XR125 and XR290 as well, using the same engines as the Bajaj-built Dukes?

Please don't tell me H-D is considering something like this???? Keep the 1200! A 500? What a POS! Phuque!

I'd take one for a test ride. If it had about 45 hp and weighed around 350lb I might even buy one.

You can't be serious. How can you label a bike a POS when it hasn't even been built yet? You haven't seen, touched, or ridden one, but proclaim it a POS anyway. People complain all the time that Harley doesn't build a bike they want, but when there is even a RUMOR of something different, you scream for them to go back to what they had. Keep the 1200? I think that was the problem. They got to keep most of them because THEY DIDN'T SELL WELL. You'd have a better position to argue from if you had actually bought an XR1200.

They need something to replace their aging fleet of Blasts, and I doubt they're going to buy Japanes bikes to use in the Rider's Edge course. This bike could be a reasonable answer. .

Probably you are just blowing smoke? but this is exactly the arrogance demonstrated by the faithful. It will make owning this bike a pain in the ass (dealer apathy yada yada) and keep Harley shackled - at least where I live. You'll have to have cohones to own this one.
