Now, if he only learns to park he won't have to worry about parking next to your bike!

-Damage to front and rear plastic
-Damage to mirror
-Damage to peg
-Throttlemeister (scratched up) is jammed against throttle making it not close by itself.
-Damage to right engine cover.
-Damage to left side where his car hit it.

I'm sure there's more damage, but I haven't had time to really check it out. Should I just have the dealer do the repairs, or should I find a body shop for the plastic? I've never dropped this bike and I love it and I'm pissed.

Any suggestions or things I should be aware of? He mentioned that he can't imagine the repairs would cost more than his deductible. I'm afraid he's in for a very rude awakening.

Stick it to the bastard! He can afford a Mercedes, he can afford your damage. Save all receipts. Plastic is very expensive to replace. Good Luck!

You seriously lucked out, but if this guy has an expensive Mercedes, then that much money may not have been a big deal to him. It would have probably cost him way more had his insurance company paid it.

Or he's broke trying to pay for the Mercedes.

OP, glad it worked out for you. Too many guys out there would have done everything they could to avoid paying.

Nice outcome! It's good to know that there are still people out there with a sense of responsiblity.

I always thought of people driving Mercedes as snobs. I guess it's time to reevaluate my generalizations.

Another installment of "You Can't Judge a Book by it's Cover". Ooh, he drives a MERCEDES???!!!! Must be a total asshat. Oh, whoops, turns out to be a class act and a perfect gentleman.

I enjoyed some of the initial posts about sticking it to him because he drive a Benz. Who's the asshat now?

I laugh at all the "advice" given about this, without having all the information. Lots of people sure are quick to jump to conclusions about "Sticking it to him" just because he knocked over a bike, or that he drives a Mercedes. Has nobody ever made a simple mistake and actually owned up to it and paid the consequences?

Would it not have been more productive to give the bike owner some insight into what to maybe check on the bike that may be "hidden" damage? I really think that he was looking for that kind of advice, more so than a lot of the other comments.
