I found and cleaned off the axle tag to figure out the ratio, 3.90.

3:90 is pretty low. 3:55 would give you lower engine speed . What is the overdrive % of the transmission?

Well, I went and looked and the tag is missing.

As a comparison our school buses have a top speed of about 65mph.

They have comparibly sized tires and no overdrive, rear axle ratio of 5.56.

This thing should fly with this gearing even if it dosen't have overdrive.

Just making an observation, it probably has a .74 od or .85 I followed your other build, you have skills.

I just found a manual, it looks like most of the Super 10's have either .74 or .76 OD in 10th. 9th being direct.

Last spring, I had to remove a 16 ft box at home and then drop the chassis at the upfitters. Anyhow, what the upfitter said was the easiest was hire a rollback.

Process:

1) The box was only secured to the chassis via 4 u-bolts, so cut those
2) The rollback will back up to the rear of your chassis (tail to tail)
3) Winch the box onto the roll-back
4) We moved the box to another part of the property and set it back down on railroad ties for use as a storage shed.

The big truck is mobile once again.

Everything worked out as planned, the driveline bolted right back up like it was made this wheelbase.

New used brake chambers installed, pinion seal,new air hoses.

I still have to figure exactly where I'll cut the framerails but I plan to have about 4 feet of overhang from the centerline of the axle.

I may dovetail the end of the bed so I'll leave a little extra.

It was just luck.

When I first saw it with the box on the P/O wanted $8,000 but I had just purchased the 8.3 for the bus so I was committed to that.

When I realized things weren't going to work as planned with the bus I remembered the truck but it wasn't listed anymore.
I thought I was screwed but then remembered taking pictures and was lucky enough to make out the phone # and the guy still had it after 8 months of trying to get rid of it.
He had sold the box and only wanted 5K, the rest is history.
