There are some beautiful oldies on here and so many styles of panniers (bags). After reading an article in the RealClassic magazine (Issue 104) I just had to read up about American Enduro teardrop panniers which to my eyes look terrific.

I don't have a photo (wish I did), but when I saw the title of this thread it immediately made me think of my first motorcycle trip, on a 70's Honda 750. My "luggage" was an old army surplus duffel bag, with everything in it, strapped on the back of the seat with bungee cords.

Samsonite Tribar luggage. I found a full set for sale here a decade ago but did not need them (had working Krausers on my bike at that time) and no place to keep them anyway.

![]() Improvised saddle bags in '78, young & broke & travelling through Queensland doing Seismic Survey work, bags are WWII vintage back packs from memory ![]() Make sure the exhaust has a shield over it!, left hand bag caught fire within 100kms of leaving on the trip, service station attendant wasn't amused to see a smoking bike pull into fill up with fuel!!!!!! ![]() Cheers Baza

I think those Craven's are still my favorites. Don't find them available too often and when you do: $$$$$$
Seems that their mounting system was quite bizarre? |
