Best (#*^&*!) beard trimmer?
I am SICK of the $20 Wahl trimmer that I have to replace every couple of years. They get a little crappier every time. My current one leaves scalped patches if you try and use it on 1 or 2. WTF? I'm not even sure how it happens.
Can someone recommend one that is a good quality trimmer, that might last a while and be worth paying a little extra for?

Animal Clippers - motorized. Oster brand. Set you back a couple hundred bucks.
My vibrating cutters last me more than 10 years, so I buy them for $20. I won't outlive an Oster.

I just replaced my Wahl that I have had for a really long time - at least 8 years. It only needed charging every few months. I used it about once a week. I might have replaced the battery once before.
I bought another one and it does seem to be made cheaper. Uses AA batteries instead of a charger. Cuts okay, but I don't expect it to last as long. I had a Norelco once but I don't think it was any better. |

Bump, I'm not looking for anything too crazy and a few years of life and a good cordless trimmer....this beard is getting too beastly and I'm tired of shaving it completely off every few months.
So any advice on what's out there? The ones I've looked at that seem alright are the: Remington MB4040 Remington MB200 Panasonic All-in-One Cordless Hair/Beard Trimmer ER224S And I'm open to anything else in the ~20-25 dollar price range.

Go for a Thai hooker and some good scissors. Cordless, too.
![]() Actually, I've been using some Andis branded AC cutters for years. I bought them after being frustrated w/ DC Wahl crap. They're for regular hair cutting, not beards, specifically. Adjustable cutting head and different guards as well. |

Cordless, even the best commercial, just don't have the juice to do the job for very long - those clippers do require a bit of power. Buy the Wahl with the plug and be done with it.

I have this one now, been using it about every 3rd day for about 9 months. The no attachment clicky size changing is nice. The fact that the batteries are already crapping out (gotta charge weekly or it dies in the middle of being used) is not. The panasonic I had before this lasted about 4 years. I can't recommend the remington.

Wahl Peanut. Corded, but works great. Comes with an assortment of combs.

Norelco bodygroom. Works well for trimming a beard, but i do use a razor to get a crisp edge at the skin transition line. Works very well for buzzing off below the neck.
