Weather permitting (i.e. not like a pizza oven), am hoping to head back up to Caroona CP (near Burra) to do a bit more exploring, staying a couple of nights .

All going well, planning to leave Adelaide about lunchtime Friday 15th Feb, back on Sunday arvo.

Likely head up via Taylor's Run (and that nice little detour out the back of Kapunda we found last time), Tothill Ranges, and Burra (gotta get me some of those chilli and lime snags again!).

Might check out the Mawson trail (and pick up where you left off, Bubba), up to Pandappa and up towards Danngali for a looksee on the Saturday.

All welcome, as always. Will confirm the date over the next couple of days.

PS - Haven't forgotten the Flinders RR (Nov) - with 5 cameras filming, got a crap-load of footage to work through!

Have heard a lot of good things about Caroona Creek Conservation Park, I have never been there but wouldn't mind heading up during one of the cooler months this year & check it out..

Will be good to see your ride report.

It's fast becoming one of my favourite 'quick getaway' destinations(but don't tell anyone!). Nice tracks, superb scenery up on the ridges, and the campsite is great too (flat, shelter, & drop loo). And only 40mins from Burra if you want a pub/bakery.

Have been up there in 30deg and wasn't too bad. Cools down at night nicely.

It's seriously over-rated. The public tracks lead nowhere and there's SFA to see on the other side of the ridge, other than mobs of mindless emus. You can't have a campfire and last time I was there, there wasn't even a single Swedish backpacking troupe to be seen. As far as holiday destinations go, it was very disappointing. The area around there is another thing entirely. It's a favorite riding area of mine - been out there quite a few times now. Beats the hell out of the mallee area. Mt Bryan East area school is the place to stay. See my 24hrs in 4 Days RR to see a little of what it has to offer. It's a great weekender run. Will always be thankful to Mid-North inmates DustySnow and Dodgy for introduciong me to this area. Love it. Get yourself a copy of the Carto Graphics "Mid North SA" map from their shop on Unley Road, Unley. Unlocks a lot of great riding/exploring.
