You can just go to http://www.xtz750.com/ as the side of the fairing suggests and read all about them.

Yeah tried that. Cant find anywhere that suggests what component parts are required. Forks look like full-on motocross forks ie from a YZ/YZ-F but the rest of it is a mystery.... |

That 750 used to belong to todd on xtz750.com, now super-tenere.net.
I attended a ride he was on in 2008, see post http://www.super-tenere.net/forum/of...it=10&start=20 Just found the build thread here http://www.super-tenere.net/forum/xt...it=10&start=20 |

" TDM850 engine, carbs and cdi. Custom exhaust. 98 YZ usd forks and triple trees. Talon/excel front wheel. YZ front brake master cylinder and lever. High front Mudguard. Custom rear Mudguard. Footpegs moved back 2". Rally style dash, which holds roadbook, fusebox and digital speedo/trip. Raised rear suspension. Extra brake lights. Smaller brighter lights and LEDS at the front. lowered seat. 530 chain, running a 48t rear sprocket and a 16t front bike maxs out @ 75-80mph. Custom engine guard. Strengthened and extended the original sumpguard. Custom gear lever. Running a Mitas c-02 stoneking on the rear and a Trelleborg enduro on the front. From his list, the engine is an easy swap from the TDM (loads of threads on the subject), the exhaust is a stock front end matched to crotch rocket can..... Front forks are an easy mod, earyly wr and yz use a 46mm usd and later use a 48mm, you need to modify the headstock to take the wr/yz bearings or the wr/yz yokes to fit the xtz (again threads on this), front wheel and brake is OEM wr/yz with the the Talon WR/YZ hub fitted... You fit the WR/YZ brake master as the stock XTZ one is for a dual calliper set up and the WR/YZ is a single.... Front mudguard is stock WR/YZ with a spacer plate, you need the plate as the faring is lower on the XTZ and the exhaust bigger. Todd made his own rear mudguard from ally sheet..... The foot pegs need to be shifted back if you ride standing up as the balance is wrong and your too close to the handlebars when sitting.... Rally dash is self explanatory (threads on this on the forum)... With the the slightly longer usd front forks you can raise the back up a bit, easily done with new dogbones... Extra brake lights is self explanatory.... Iyou raise the suspension you can find that you touch the ground so by cutting the seat height down you get that back, easy done with a knife and staple gun.... The oem 520 chain is woefully under size for the size/weight of the bike so upgrading to the 525 or better still 530 is best, its a straight swap for the chain/cogs off the tdm.... custom sumpguard is to protect the exhaust and rear shock lower mount... The gear lever needs a little work if you ride with big boots or do the moved footpeg mod.... tyres are self explanatory.... Also not in Todds list he has shortened the rear side panels and fitted a different headlight panel, plus he has the later spec after market screen. hope that help, good luck with your project." Jenna posted this for me on the supertenere forum.

How Much
How much did the bike cost to start?
Where did you get it? Mail, parts? Total cost to date? If you would sell, how much to an ABQ resident? Could you build up a Super Tenere from parts over time for a client? Are you a bike shop or just someone who enjoys the process of build/rebuild? I saw you are building a TDM next. How do you afford the overhead of new parts: good job, rich family, or free parts availability? I was told by some Harley Clubs that Yamaha provides free bikes and parts to desert folks to help their light coverage build? Have you seen Yamaha's light? On the east coast Suzuki and BMW and Harley are bigger. I moved here to exit that war and absurd cost structure. Bikes are cheaper in NM, but still how could a KTM 990 cost 2k in china and 16k in the us? Have you applied for this or heard about it? |

Just came bs ack from my tour around Canada and found a new home in Andalucia Spain, for me and the bike, it feels right in place here, and still plenty original Super Tenere's around being used as daily drivers, even the Guardia Civil use them, and pull me over all the time, but have no idea why
