Went on a trip Christmas 2012
On the 22nd of December Vman and I set off on a ride, Thunderdownunder couldn't make it as he was on call BUMMER.
Day 1 Brisbane to Scone along the New England Hwy. Biggest excitement for the day was being caught in a storm at Uralla. We sheltered in an old disused servo till it blew over. Day 2 Scone to Yass along Bylong Valley Way (#124 HMA) and then to Bathurst for the mandatory hot lap at 60km/h. Then onto Yass via Frogmore Road (#130 HMA) and arrived at Yass just as a doosy storm set in for the night. Bylong Valley Frogmore Bathurst Approaching the storm Day 3 Yass to Jindabyne From Yass we took the Wee Jasper Road to Tumut (#37 HMA) then followed the superb Snowy Mountains Hwy to Jindabyne. On way to Wee Jasper Wee Jasper Wee Jasper Bridge Goodradigbee River Heading into the Snowy's Days 4 (Christmas Day) and 5 (Boxing Day) Exploring the Snowy Mountains and will definitely be going back next year. We even saw SNOW on top of the mountains on Christmas Day. Dead Horse Gap Christmas morning Kiandra The road from Khancoban to Kiandra View from Cabramurra Australia's Highest Town Charlotte Pass Still some snow left on the mountain tops at Charlotte Pass The road to Charlotte Pass Day 6 Jindabyne to Jenolan Caves via the Monaro Hwy and then onto the Oberon to Goulburn Rd (#28 HMA) Day 7 Exploring Jenolan Caves can honestly say been there done that won't go again , should have stayed longer in the Snowy's. The platypus at Jenolan Caves Blue Lake Day 8 Jenolan Caves to Katoomba This is where we made 2 fatal errors. The first was we went to Penrith to look for a helmet for Vman on the advice of a couple of fellow bikers we met at breakfast at Katoomba. A round trip of approximately 80km took a ridiculous 3.5hrs. On advice from another biker we met at Jenolan we went to Scenic World at Katoomba. This was a day spent queuing to get onto the skyrail, cable car and train this was another day we could have spent in the Snowy's. Deluxe Hot Chocolate The Three Sisters Waterfall from skyrail Day 9 Held up in Blackheath as Gotawee picked up a wog and it wasn't the tall, dark, and handsome type. Day 10 Blackheath to Gloucester From Blackheath we took the Bells Line of Road (#16 HMA) and then onto The Putty Road (#31 HMA). Then we went from Singleton to Bucketts Way (#18 HMA) via Dungog great road, ruff in spots scenery and corners made up for it. Bucketts Way to Gloucester for the night The Gloucester Inn next to the Country Club was good value and a massive breakfast and pool to escape the dreaded heat 39C Carson's Lookout Day 11 (New Years Day) Gloucester to Coffs Harbour via Thunderbolts Way (#35 HMA) to Walcha. Walcha to Port Macquarie along the road of a thousand bends the Oxley Hwy (#30 HMA). Found somewhere air conditioned for lunch at PM as the temp had got to 40C. Artwork at Walcha Lions Lookout Aspley Falls Day 12 Coffs to Home Left Coffs and rode on the back roads to Grafton then ran up the Summerland Way to the Lions road. On the Lions road we stopped at Running Creek for a much needed swim as the temp still at 40C. The Lions Road Sparkles hit 24001km's at Beaudesert. Then unfortunately it was all over way to soon and we were home again. Back to work tomorrow while Vman the Bastard has 3 months off and is going to S.A and maybe W.A before we set off again for the Tassie Gathering 2013. We covered approximately 4500km's during this trip. I've also had a go at some video stuff as we got a camera before the trip. The editing gets better as I go, still learning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3sSIuLUMuA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yeNXD7PfMQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxmtUSNuG9E Cheers Gotawee |
