Another scooter

I have a helix scooter been driving for years. What would you buy as a second scooter or bike for longer rides with more performance and comfort. Keeping helix for short rides around town. This would be used one up and 100-200 miles trips at most. Guess I just want a new toy that I can justify as a needed transportation vehicle.

So what Scooter do you own that you would buy again or what scooter is the next one you think would be better than what you have?

It depends: distance, comfort, 2-up, mileage, etc.?

I've only owned a Burgman 650, but before I bought it, I was looking at the pre-2007 Scarabeo 500, and both Burgmans (Burgmen?) I didn't look at the Silverwing mainly because I wanted to avoid my local Honda dealer and also figured if 600 was good 650 was better. At just under 400 lbs., I'm basically riding 2-up all by myself

I sat on the Scarabeo on the dealer's floor, but didn't actually ride it. I've read that the vibration of a single is greater than that of the twin, so amount of time per day spent on the bike may be a factor. I do like the style and bags of the S500 though.

My B650 has served me very well. I bought it with just under 37000 miles on it 2 years ago, loaded with all kind of goodies. It's now at 68000 miles (I just had the belt replaced)

Since you have a Helix, I would say Silverwing, Majesty, or Burgman 400. The Burgman 650 is huge and heavy and awkward, and much more than you need, even on the freeway, unless you plan on carrying a passenger. I would stay with Japanese because of their proven reliability and parts availability, even though a European scooter would appeal to me more.

Another vote for the Silverwing. That said; go sit on rigs to make sure the prospective mount is comfortable to YOU. If money is tight buy used plus look at Kymco. Quality scoots and lots less than Honda plus a 2 year warranty! Good luck with your search.

Silverwing, particularly if you're thinking about sometimes going onto the freeways or high speed roads. Also good would be the Piaggio BV350 (read up on the Piaggio parts distribution system, however), the Yamaha Majesty, the Suzuki Burgman 400, the Kymco People 300 GTi.
