You could have gone for bonus points, by cooking a roast at the same time :-).

Paint and pinstripe
So, I've got this old tank, and it sure could use a "prettyup", and the man wants a LARGE chunk to do it HIS way, (without pinstriping!) so I'm going into the body work business! And learn how to pinstripe!
I've got a frequently used woodshop, heated to a balmy 45 degrees on a warm day, some sandpaper and a can of primer/filler!... ![]() What could go wrong??? ![]()

Looks magical.
I would put a coat of wax on it, and enjoy it. seriously, thats a nice example. I wouldn't go messing.

I have the luxury...
of this being the original, but hopelessly rotted out tank. The bottom looks like a fine Italian pasta collander.... ![]() I have another, solid, but in the same state of patina. This tank will need major surgery to ever function again. In the meantime, I'm gonna learn how to pinstripe, maybe how to paint in the worst conditions possible! ![]() ![]() So what do I do now?

Wet sand it with 400 grit paper then apply a light coat of primer. Then wet sand that with 600 grit, then it should be ready for paint. Cant help you with the pin-striping. I tried it years ago and found you need a steady hand to get good results
