Peanuts, I didn't change that - this is actually the first I've heard of it, and I've gone through the HOW in great depth. My bike's an 04 950 Adv - is it something I should be worried about?

Yes, the balls come out of the bearing and cause damage to the primary gear, clutch and gearbox.

Well documented on smaller KTM forums, but just as bigger threat to the LC8 engine, hence the factory doing the upgraded part.

my K.I.S.S. approach to gear hauling. made a cheap base plate to mount all my camping gear. really happy with the results. cost me $12 and allows enough room for a passenger, plus is a solid mount and prevents stuff from sliding around. the whole bundle comes right off together and the base plate can be removed quickly so you can strip down to fun mode without worrying. can open and close both paniers without removing any gear either. originally did it without the base plate but was worried about the heat. this definitely solves that problem.

Follow-up... 690 SMC fork guards are NOT a direct bolt on. Right side - two holes (one side and one front line up which allow for a secure mount. Left side - same holes line up, but had to do some trimming of the fork guard around the speedo/abs sensor. I also swapped the stock fender for a high fender. Had to shim the rear bolts with a washer to provide some clearance between the rear of the fender and radiator. Then I installed some ROX risers and mounted my GPS in the center.

Getting a little closer on my Pelican pannier work. 3M Scotchlite on the outside, vinyl case liners on the inside (about 50% complete). Mounts are in the works, and weather sealed cam locks should be here next week. Getting closer every day.

I've had a couple of questions about the mounts for my lights. So hopefully this will help.

You can choose the style of mount from the table. I used the 6mm fender mount and mounted them to the upper fairing bolt instead of the fender.

Just took it for a ride and it was nice. Sound is deep an throaty. Won't be able to tell performance until I put a couple hundred miles on it.
