Yeap, I'd run away screaming from $13,800.
My local (and very small) Suzuki dealer had a 1250FA on their floor last summer. With the hard luggage installed, the sticker price was $9,000.

I have a GSX1250FA which I bought last year and have done around 9,000km. I also looked at the Ninja 1000 at the time. The Ninja is a MUCH better bike (motor, suspension, brakes, weight, etc) in my opinion. But I got the Suzi for around $5,000 less than I could the Ninja at the time. If the difference was $2-3k I would have gone for the Ninja.

I had a GSX1250FA for a year. As I recall it was $11,000 out the door with factory side cases and top rack. My intent was to set it up as a 2-up tourer.
I had no problems with the mechanics. Plenty of power and smooth as a turbine. I really liked the amount of torque the engine put out. Got 40 - 48 mpg. Problem was the seat is only 24" long. Not much room to move around with a passenger and we could not get comfortable on it, even with a Sargent seat. I'm also pushing 60 and have mild arthritis in the knees so I need something with a more relaxed riding position. We sold it and will be looking for a replacement when the weather improves.

Oh well I think I might rather have a wee anyway.

Ah, the Wee, had one before the Bandit, should have kept that bike........ I am really missing it, if only it had a but more power...... although I am starting to wonder sometimes if less is not more.......
Now, enter the Triumph Tiger Sport, cannot wait to ride that, sounds like the best from both worlds. But, if the Wee does it for you, go for it, it is a fantastic bike, no matter what anybody says. If I could buy my old one back tomorrow I would.

I had the bandit 1250 with the fairings, factory bags, racetech and works performance shock, and everything Dale Walker sales including his corbin seat--over $5k in accessories. i rode it for 15.5 hours straigt with all over 80mph and much over 100 mph avg 43mpg. but there was zero room for my wife--we were cramped! so i sold it and bought my wife a new goldwing---IT SUCKED.

Used 1250's are even better. Someone else buys all the farkles. Mine was $4400 with a slip-on, steel lines, aftermarket shock, DW fork brace, gel seat and Gold valves.

Interesting thread. I have a line on an '11 abs & 3 bags <5k miles at $6950. Unfarked, though. It will need a seat, can at least and some other didlles like driving lights, steibel, rear light brake flasher.
How are they 2 up for say a 3-4 hour tour? And, how would you compare one to a Tiger 1050? Jeffn screwed with this post 01-31-2013 at 06:57 PM |
