In La Paz Bolivia looking for BMW battery

Howdy gang, I'm riding with a German rider on a 1997 BMW GS800. His battery went bad yesterday which forced us to spend the night in Coroico (which wasn't a bad thing - I recommend it highly). He could ride without the headlight and we rode back to La Paz today (Sunday). Tomorrow we search for a new battery. Help please.

Do you know where the market is up on the hill from the main drag in La Paz? There's moto, tire, and accessory shops in that area..

Madness Tours is on the main drag. You can pop in there and ask around. Fernando owns Madness and is also Pres of KTM Bolivia. He splits time b/w La Paz and Santa Cruz so you might catch him.

Without knowing much about what your buddy is experiencing, you may want to check out the charging system, too. Just a thought...

We tried the number on the website and it was no good. He ended up finding a battery at one of the general car electric places (maybe Bosch) and all is good.

BTW, there are about a dozen motorcycle dealerships all within a few blocks of each other. After getting the new battery and riding north from La Paz, we passed by them.

The BMW car dealership in La Paz that also works on BMW bikes told my friend to drop off his bike and they would find a battery. He declined

In Peru and headed to Machu Picchu (or however you spell it).
