In my quest for still being able to sleep in a tent, I had moved up to a 3" luxury map thermarest - but my hip would still bottom out sleeping on my side (so I wouldn't be one of those reeeeeeally loud snoring type dudes).

So I went for a cot - got the Byer Trilite ($75 http://www.amazon.com/Byer-Maine-Lit.../dp/B00099YKXK ). Excellent. When I first unpacked it, I set it up and lay down on it - and got an unplanned nap it was so comfy! The only problem is the length packed - 27". Won't fit in a saddlebag, has to be strapped on. I also picked up a used Go-Kot, ($125 http://www.campingcot.com/?section=original )which differs only in having 6 smaller steel "legs" instead of 4. Only other difference is the Byer has a hanging side pocket for glasses/etc.

Then I saw the Anywhere Bed, which is a cheaper version of the Luxurylite/ultralite ($70). The rods of the leg assemblies are glued into the round ends and the cover is tarp material, but very similar. The only problem I've seen so far is that it has too much spring if you use all the legs (you get 2 spare sets to double up with). I weigh 210lbs, and it worked ok for me - but my 135lb daughter would drift right off of it! So after experimentation, I find that it is most comfortable with no leg in the shoulder area (leave one out, don't use the "spares"). I'm using it with a thermarest, but have downgraded that to a 1" version w/o problem (I was letting most of the air out of the 3" anyways).

Get any one of these cots. Greatly improves your camping sleep comfort! Now if I could get a pillow that worked so well.....

Try this.

I have one and use it with my Luxury Lite and a partially inflated Therm-a-Rest for a I-sleep-as-good-on-this-as-I-do-at-home night.

We use this same set up (Luxury Lite cot, Thermarest and Sea to Summit pillow). We prefer this to almost any motel/hotel bed.
