I haven't heard of anyone doing this in recent times. The timber business went bust with the housing market. Oak prices hit record lows just a couple years ago. With the low prices, most companies don't seem interested in small harvests.

STBNE.

Two options..
One.. might be to have a good arborist to prune them back so they are still there for some climate control and enjoyment of your home but less of a massive threat

Two.. have the taken out.. (be prepared for a pretty big cost. That work isn't cheap)

Check with speedygas as his has friends that are arborist. They have been to ADV lunch some as well. Andrew????

If they don't work that area, then perhaps they know of someone.

And I guess a third option, ask around in there might be a local farmer do it all type that would cut them with perhaps a dozer pushing against them, and take the body of wood, leaving you with the hole, the stump, and the limbs and the torn up yard

Some of you may have seen this yesterday and some may not care, but for the rest of you, BMW has sold Husqvarna to (essentially) KTM.

Is that a good thing? I thought they were all pricey bikes anyhow. Husky kinda fits with KTM a little better anyway, BMW has road bikes.

I don't know if it's a good thing or not. I don't see where Husky has something that KTM needs right now. I own KTMs, have owned a Husaberg and have wanted a Husky since I was about 12...

Thanks Chad will call them and see if they'll come out this way...these trees are way too close to the house and the outbldg we had built 3 yrs ago...
A dozer wont work because it would have to tear up everything else that we would want to keep intact...my neighbor across the street had some fly by night company come in and cut down a bunch of trees on her property and left all the stumps in and tore up their yards with their Bobcat and now her property looks so unsightly its disgusting...just damn lucky this company didnt have any accidents as they were most likely uninsured...not licensed or bonded..those are big issues when you call someone out to work on your home or property... I appreciate all the comments . As an aside...the housing industry is coming back and perhaps the hardwood values will again rise to where companies willm once again harvest tress.

It was about 500-600$ per tree, and they ended up not being able to grind two of the stumps.
I'd have been better off cutting most of them down myself, and only paying them for the two that had a REALLY good chance of hitting my house, or the power lines.

Crappy part, my AC costs went up about 40% after cutting the big one in the front yard down. :(

I was just looking into it. Don't have an invite yet, but it looks interesting and a reason to go walking/exploring around town.
