Unless I missed it, I can't believe this thread has gone two pages without mentioning the single worst thing about the Matrix. It has the absolute WORST blind spots of any car I've ever driven.

Have you driven a Traverse?
Pretty bad rear view on them. I love my Traverse, but the blind spots are bad. My method of dealing with a blind spot is to just drive REALLY fast so I do not have to worry about being passed or rear traffic....

Yes. My inlaws have a Traverse, and I've driven it a few times. The Matrix was worse. When we bought our Forester back in 2008, I test drove a ton of cars. I really wanted to like the Matrix, but when I brought it back to the dealer, I told the sales guy that the blind spot was too much of an issue for me. He said that he heard that from a lot of people.
I also had a rented Vibe for a week when I was out in San Jose for business. Driving that thing in Bay Area traffic was terrifying. The only other cars that I've driven that have been that bad for blind spots were my old neighbors' Honda Insight, and a Benx C230 Kompressor hatchback. |

It is a versatile car.... But god how I hated our matrix. Reliable yes...mostly. But only returned a
High 20's for mileage and was THE worst riding loudest car I've ever owned. I would pass.
