That's good news, as I was on the point of ordering the Evo-2 tank kit ...

The bottom rim of the filter is interfering with the fuel line. There's a quick disconnect on the fuel hose right where the brim of the filter sits and it's triggering the disconnect.

Remove the stock quick disconnect now before it breaks or you break it while working on the bike. There is a nice one offered by beemer boneyard that works quite well.

Yes, that as well.

So has anyone pulled the 2012 690 front forks apart yet? Or any year model?

No I have not heard or read about a water pump going on a 690 .
and there are plenty of bikes with 10000+ miles on them .

Not saying it does not happen but the water pumps are excellent

Yes,done lots of them. The 2011/12 have different internals, and the 12 has reduced axle offset to compensate for the extra offset on the triple clamps, which gave more steering lock.

Are you able to give me some guidance on how to soften up the compression damping on the front forks? There is a suspension guy in NZ but he hasn't really had much to do with 690's and in particular the 2012 model. I told him my problem of the front bouncing off bumps and rocks while trailriding ( I weigh 78kg in my birthday suit) and he said to unscrew the base valve from the bottom of the forks and send them up to him and he would replace the 0.15 shims with 0.10 shims. Does this sound right?

I'll pay you for your advise and buy the parts from you if necessary ktmmitch!!

Cheers
Trev

thanks all for your input about water pumps

Seth, when you say yours failed, what failed on the water pump, and why do you think it failed.

Best thing to do first is to fit 4,8Nm springs, they are too hard stock,Then 5W oil with 115mm air gap.

365 Days?

I haven't heard of any changes what so ever to the '13 bikes.
