One of the ramps in my work building is about that steep.

BTW, I think the shadow in the photo in question is directly on the camera person. That is why you don't see it.

The bike/rider is just a bit blurred. Might have been nice to faster shutter speed with a flash, and then photoshop the rider/bike darker if you wanted.

Great- I need to preorder a side stand extender. Actually I think I am enamored by this new GS, something i feel inside like I felt for my R80 and my R1150 that I haven't ever felt for the 1200's -'til now.

They've landed stateside....
Just received an email from the dealer, the bikes are in the US and they should be receiving theirs in the next two to three weeks.

I think you would have the standard BMW 90% chance of absolutely nothing being wrong. Do you live close to the dealer?

I wouldn't be worried. BMW is not a "Mickey-Mouse" type of company, should something (and I doubt it) be wrong they will/have to fix it anyways.

Better to buy after the fix because BMW usually quietly just changes specs without recalling the earlier problematic parts, like the self-destructing forks on the F650GS made from 2000 to mid-2003.

If you have access to the video footage of that jump we would love to see it. Especially off that ramp. It should be available as the rest of the "One World. One R 1200 GS" tour is being covered with both stills and video.
