What do you mean by "swapped the panels?" You mean you swapped the tank and beak? Did you trade with someone, or how did you get the white tank?

Yeah Mark. He posted over on T800 and said he swapped with someone from Ebay. I'm not sure if the guy was selling the parts or just selling the whole bike but willing to swap.

Our small gathering of Tigers for our annual Carrizo-Pozo run turned out to be all white Tigers.

Nice photo, Browneye. That's funny. Rob Dirt and I ride together quite a bit and both our bikes are white as well.

Talking

From my experience, not only are the white ones the fastest, they have a plusher ride and handle better

You've clearly never tried a black one. They're so fast no-one can see them. Especially at night.

That's brilliant. It's like two fingers up to all those doubters on BMWs. The Tigers are out there doing it.

Tiger 800 - ABS ON or OFF?

Hey all - Planing a ride in Canyonlands early April. In reading past posts on this subject there appears to be differing / divergent opinions regarding advisability of using ABS "off pavement" (particularly on down hills) I've tried both (ON / OFF) & not sure I notice any huge difference. Tho - I have yet to tackle terrain like "Hogsback" or other noteworthy declines. So looking for advice from you more experienced off road folks, specifically with 800 tigers, since its ABS seems better (worse?) than others. This is my 1st ABS bike - so have no experience to compare to. Any thoughts ? Thanks, j

I never turn mine off unless I am faced with steep slopes. Some people turn it off as soon as they hit dirt, most do not.

I always turn mine off. I'm so used to locking the rear that ABS screws me up. I can't tell the front even kicks in, but the rear pulses way to slow. It locks, releases, locks, releases, & I end up taking way to long to stop.
Practice emergency stops on a level dirtroad. I usually lock the front & rear & slide to a stop for practice. When I do this with ABS on, I can't tell the front is pulsing but the rear is rediculous.

Roadie or XC

OK, I need some help deciding. I have ridden the Roadie, but not the XC. I do know the Roadie is lower and scrubs in curves. Is this an issue with the XC?

No.
But that is not the appropriate criteria for choosing which model suits your riding style. Neither one is a sportbike.
