Vinyl tape ?

Looking to put some racing stripes on a project. Looking for something that will hold up for some time, and that I can put over the clear coat. I was thinking of some quality vinyl tape 1 inch and 1/4 inch. Any recommendations??

Thanks

Autoparts for pinstripe kits? The wide ones with different width on them I think have "one inch" and some 1/4...1/8....1/16. Lots of color choices and relatively easy to remove later with a little heat and some of them nifty plastic razor blades. I just separate them with the scissors and use the width I need for that specific project.

paint.... if you can tape and clear coat, you can just tape and paint the stripes. it's more masking is all

I suck at painting, already tried painting racing strips and the paint bled through, making it look like crap around the lines.

You need better tape. Was just looking at the silicone tapes for powdercoating, could be just the answer, thin, good adhesion but easily removeable and paint shouldn't stick to it too much.

Got to use lacquers not enamels, sets much faster and shouldn't bleed through the right tapes.

reflective tape pinstripes

wanting to revive the thread:

i purchased some reflective tape to pinstripe my kawasaki z750s.

it has less to do with style-ing and more with trying to increase my visibility.

the reflective tape i got was based on an article in webbikeworld:

http://www.flashback.ca/

so, anyone with tips/thoughts/theories on how to put down reflective tape on a motorcycle.

thanks in advance.

be well.

rob

Is this your bike?

Depending how wide the tape is, maybe a couple of chevrons ("V" shapes) over the headlight/under the windscreen, run strips front-to-back along the indent in the front fairing where the signals are, and more chevrons on the rear (especially on the rear extention thing, if you haven't removed it).

hh-

that is indeed my 2006 z750s and a lovely shot of it.

thank you for sharing your thoughts.

i was also thinking of using chevrons under the windscreen and along the lines of the half-fairing.

i was also thinking of a thin horizontal stripe on the back of the mirrors.

maybe a vertical stripe along the radiator sides.

the previous owner had removed the rear fender assembly so there are not many places to tape from behind.

and i wonder if anything along the sides makes sense.

i don't want to go over-board and decrease the value of the z750s.

i do want to increase the opportunity for others to see me.

i look forward to any other thoughts.

be well.

rob
