Seems they were doing a mountain hill climb ride. Spent the day riding uphills and finally the end was at the top of mountain. The cars back at the start were only about 10 miles away nearly all down hill. Rather than wait for a shuttle, they headed down the mountain and suddenly over took a group of bikers... I had Hardly remember the brand. Long story short, they weaved in and around and through them an passed (and pissed) them rather quickly and cleanly. Once at the bottom of the hill, they dismounted, got helmets off and then came the bikers stopping to exclaim that they shouldn't be doing that with expletives and but little noticeable embarrassment.

I do believe at that lunch discussion, I was not the only inmate that had done said feat on pedal bikes.

Ours was for the "storming of thunder ridge" ride back in the day. I was going to paste the link, but apparently the "new" storming of thunder ridge doesn't follow the same course at all, and according to online this year will be the fourth even though I participated back in the 90s.

And yes, apparently people on cruisers get very mad, rev their engines and are very certain they don't want to let pedal bikers pass them. Unfortunately gravity is a bitch, and you really can ROLL on a pedal bike downhill. As was mentioned, lots of insults, etc etc. They finally went on their confident that they had told us. It was about 5 minutes till we were stuck behind them again in our VW van. :(

Where's TandemGeek when you need him? Bet he and his stoker have done some FAST descents.

I have on our tandem. The look on cage driver's faces is priceless when we pass on the left on a steep downhill.

All cruisers are "Harleys" to me - except for those alien spaceships that Victory puts out.

Agreed. This got me to thinking though, which is worse, to actually ride a HD or to aspire to ride something similar?

i personally don't get h-d's; i found that driving my plain-jane gen-1 scion xb to be far more entertaining than riding a h-d.

but, different horses for different courses - those who enjoy riding h-d's are certainly entitled to their fun...

ymmv,

The lack of protection for that little girl is almost criminal if they have to lay 'er down.

I can't quite make out the logo on the side, but I think it says Fire Blade.

He got stickers or complete bodywork from Europe. Or maybe he imported the entire bike. Across the sea the CBR900 to the current 1000 are called the FireBlade.

Our Honda Superhawk is called the Firestorm.

I have a seriously funny Canadian joke here, but it's political... so, alas, I will keep my mouth shut and not risk the Banhammer of Doom.

Edit: Okay, it's not really that funny. Maybe slightly amusing.

Mr_Gone screwed with this post 02-11-2013 at 01:04 PM Reason: Overestimation of my comic skills.
