Be careful with that. I know some people on SVRider have done it, but the metal in that area is super thin.

Just in case you were referring to my post, the triple I bought was designed for handlebars. I personally wouldn't use a drilled GSXR triple.

LSL makes a handlebar conversion kit for GSXRs...

Thanks for the helpful replies to my questions. I'm still mulling it over.

found a custom top triple designed specifically for this exact swap, with proper gauge/ignition cutouts and bar mounts.

Have you seen a failure yourself, or are you just being cautious based on a hunch?

Have seen many stunters riding drilled uppers for years, with many crashes, and have never seen a failure. It's easy enough to reinforce the area underneath when doing it.

Calling me out? OK. No, I have not personally inspected a failed example.

We all have different standards. Do what seems best to you.

+1

I know danimal knows his stuff but when it comes to this I'm more prudent. A drilled one probably won't fail. I probably won't crash on the way to work but I still wear my helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, etc. It's just, at what cost is it if it does fail?

I simply filled the cavities on the bottom of the upper triple with epoxy resin after drilling for the bar risers.

I ordered mine in December and asked for an additional 1" of height. They gave me all kinds of grief about modifying it based on how they spend time designing what is best, most comfortable, etc.
They also said if I ordered it that way it was not covered by the warranty to send it back for modifications.
They also told me not to get welting because they have a problem with tearing of the welt from use.

At that point I had already ordered and submitted payment for my seat and basically was told to take it. They will never get my business again. I spent considerable effort lowering my pegs for more legroom and the Corbin I just got from them negated that.

I plan on sending it back and getting it redone with the additional 1" I originally asked for. But that's extra screwing around and not having the seat on my bike. And at this point, I'm fully expecting them to give me the run around.

May be a good seat, but the company absolutely doesn't deliver on customer service. Never will get a seat from them again. Why didn't I just get a Sargent?

Corbin

I had no problems with them at all. I call them asked them about 25 questions on designs and integrity, they answered them all very clearly and sounded like they knew what they were doing. I told Her my weight and height and told them I want 1" extra and She told me I can go up to 2". So that is what I did. She said nothing about it voiding the warrenty at all. It took over a month for the seat to arrive, was shipped and packaged well. The only thing that was wrong is that the Bracket on the seat that bolts to the bike was on backwards. I removed the bolts, flipped the bracket and with a lot of elbow grease got the holes lined up.
I have heard a bunch of bad things about there customer service but I guess that it really depends on who you deal with. Sorry to here you are having problems with them. The lady I spoke with was Jennifer Rodriguez I sent her 1/2 a dozen emails and she got back to me with in a day. These are just my .02 cents

Good luck with your seat

Corbin is notorious for having aweful Customer Service. They screwed up several seats for me before they got it right (mine is 1" over stock)

At the time, Sergio was the guy to ask for.

No other way to get a Corbin though. Mine still feels great with over 70,000 miles on it.

Only 70,000 Miles. . . . I would expect so much more from you.

Glad I saved all my e-mails from them about voiding my warranty, the welts not holding up, etc. Just forwarded them to a supervisor there...
